Praise for Touchdown! “Just as one individual makes a diff erence, so can one book make a diff erence. If you follow what it teaches, you will be in a much higher place and get what you deserve, which is victory.” Butch Davis, former Head Coach of the NCAA Champion University of Miami and current Head Coach of the University of North Carolina “Kevin Elko played a huge part of putt ing Rutgers Football on the map. We use what he has taught us every day in our coaching. We owe him for teaching us ‘Th e Chop.’” Greg Schiano, Head Coach, Rutgers University Football “Dr. Elko taught me ‘You have to dream it to achieve it’ and that before championships and pro bowls happen, they have already occurred in your mind. From the moment I learned it I have not only played that way, I have led that way.” Ed Reed, All Pro Safety, Baltimore Ravens “Over my career at the University of Miami, I learned a lot of lessons from Kevin that helped lift myself and my teammates to a higher level. His creativity with his teachings, and the fact that what he taught us worked, was a major reason I still believe in what he taught me to this day.” Ken Dorsey, Quarterback, Cleveland Browns, and former Quarterback of 2001 University of Miami National Champions “Over the course of my career, the principles that Dr. Elko taught were instrumental in me being a starter in the NFL. Th ese principles are now still what I teach to my athletes in the weight room.” Tom Myslinski, MS, CSCS, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, the Cleveland Browns Football Club “If I had one choice for someone to work with my fi rm, I would pick Kevin Elko.

The honor will be presented to youth football programs in every state that exemplify the values of football: commitment, integrity, courage, respect, and excellence. 2 Michigon State News, East Lansing, Michigan MSU v. ND: two hungry teams Both teams need wins after rather slow start By JOECENTERS State News Sports Writer When MSU hosts Notre Dame Saturday in a 1:30 p.m. clash at Spartan Stadium, it will be the 44th time that the two football teams will have met. But this game will be far different than most of the meetings between the two schools. This contest will be between two tearhs that are fighting for its lives, which is unusual for both MSU and Notre Dame this early in the season. Both schools are 1-2 this season and the team that winds up on the short end of the score could find itself in a hole with no way to get out. The Irish lost their first two games of the season, a 3-0 setback to Missouri and a 28-14 defeat at the hands of Michigan, MSU's opponent next week in Ann Arbor. Last Saturday, Notre Dame finally got on the right track by beating Purdue 10-6. State News/Deborah J. Borin The Boilermakers took a 6-0 halftime lead on two field goals by Scott Sovereen, but that's all of the offense that Purdue could Lonnie Middleton (44), MSU's starting fullback, tries to burst past three muster against the Irish. A third quarter touchdown by Jerome Syracuse defenders in MSU's 49-21 win earlier this season. Heavens and a 27-yard field goal by Joe Unis later on in the same Middleton and his teammates will be seeking to rebound against Notre stanza gave Notre Dame its margin of victory.
