Whether it’s a small family wedding or a large event our outstanding food and exceptional service coupled with the most stunning location nestled at the foot of Pendle with spectacular views and large gardens, the Calf’s Head is the perfect location for your special day.

Located in the picturesque village of Worston, the Calfs Head is a lovely country inn, offering cosy bar areas and opulent dining rooms, complemented by 12 bedrooms.

The recently refurbished Ribble room with its magnificent chandeliers, distinctive feature fireplace and modern day elegance is the perfect setting for a wedding breakfast and evening gathering. Our famous “glass house” with its picturesque views of the gardens, brook and panoramic views of Pendle Hill offers a fairy tale setting for a ceremony. If the weather permits wedding ceremonies can also be held outside in our stunning gardens.

The picture-perfect walled gardens, rippling brook, gazebo, bridge and the views of Pendle hill behind offer picturesque photo opportunities to capture wonderful memories.

Every wedding is unique so we have created this guide to enable you to build your very own wedding package which is perfect and unique to you.

We have lots of options for you to consider to make your own bespoke wedding. We believe in flexibility, so if there is something that you want that we haven’t covered let us know and we will do our very best to see it happens or if you just want to pop in for an informal chat, we will be happy to see you.

Civil Ceremony or Church?

If you are going to have a civil ceremony, we have three areas licensed for civil ceremony, the ‘Glass House’, the Ribble room and the garden ‘Gazebo’. The latter is restricted to summer months and weather permitting. These provide options for ceremony and reception to be sited to suit numbers and choice of aspect. It is not surprising that the backdrop of Pendle and the large gardens prove so popular for the special moment of the marriage vows. The charge for the facility is £250 on Saturdays and £200 on weekdays.

On arrival or post ceremony Guest drinks can be taken inside or weather permitting in the garden where the photographers have a field day with so many backdrops to choose from. The stream running through the grounds can add some romance to the occasion. Having started to get into the celebration mood it is time to decide on the Wedding Breakfast menu. At the time of booking, we would ask you to specify the number of rooms you wish to reserve for your wedding guests for either one or two nights. The allocation is held for six weeks prior to the wedding. Any rooms remaining unsold at this stage will be released for general sale.

Therefor there is no need for a pre order but we will need to know if any of your guests have any special dietary requirements. DJ Entertainment

We can recommend our resident DJ for your evening entertainment and he will liase with you on your song choices and particular requirements. His charge is £225 for the night (7pm – 12 am). A £50 deposit is required on booking and the balance prior to the event paid directly to the DJ. If you prefer you can organise your own entertainment but we reserve the right to control volume in line with our license requirements. *The Evening package can only be booked as an addition to your day reception. Prices are based on a minimum number of 70 evening guests, all guests attending must be catered for. The maximum number of guests is 120.

Terms & Conditions

Last Orders Last Orders and music to finish at 12.00 am. Depart by 12:30am.

Noise Calfs Head DJ must be used, unless prior agreement regarding an alternative. Please note that all bands and DJs must comply with the Calf’s Head on sound levels and we reserve the right to control the sound volume throughout. Bands can play between 9pm and 11pm. Recorded music to 12.00am.

Damage The organisers of the event are responsible for the actions and behaviour of their guests and any damages, losses and additional cleaning incurred will be added to the final bill and deducted from the security deposit.

Alcohol and Food No food or drink may be brought onto the premises with the exception of wedding cake. This includes alcoholic wedding favours and gifts for your wedding party. Any Alcohol consumed on the premises other than purchased from Calfs Head will incur a £250 charge to your security deposit and any guest found to be consuming alcohol bought onto the site will be asked to leave. Please inform your guests.

Prices Prices are fixed for 2022 but for changes to VAT and duty.

Bookings & Payments In order to confirm your booking please complete your booking form and return with £500 deposit. Calf’s Head will refund 100% of the deposit if the booking is cancelled in writing within one calendar month of booking. The deposit is non-refundable after this period.

6 months before - £1,000 a second non-refundable deposit payment is to be paid.

6 weeks before – based on final numbers submitted the final invoice is to be paid. The payment is non- refundable and non-transferable and is to include the full balance plus security deposit.

4 weeks after the wedding the security deposit will be returned less any deductions.

Registrar It is the sole responsibility of any couple to book the Registrar and complete all legal preliminaries.

Insurance We always recommend that, as with any large purchase, you take out insurance and will give you full peace of mind, if for example you have to cancel at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances.
