Teshuvot on Teshuva: Exploring the Repentance Process in Rabbinic Literature

Rabbi Zirkind Mondays at 7:30 PM: September 9-23 RJC Beit Midrash This intermediate course studies Responsa (in Hebrew and English) on the topic of forgiveness and repentance. How, when, and why we seek the forgiveness of others in Jewish law. Together we’ll explore complex social circumstances and how halachic authorities react to them in the season of atonement and throughout the year.

Scholar in Residence

Rabbi Jonathan Kroll Shabbat, September 28 at 11:00 AM Following all of our minyanim everyone is invited to join in the main sanctuary for a special Pre-Rosh Hashana address from our very own Rabbi Jonathan Kroll. Rabbi Jonathan Kroll, a graduate of YU and a musmach of RIETS was a founding staff member of SAR High School and now serves as its principal. For the past six years Rabbi Kroll served as Head of School of Katz Yeshiva High School in Boca Raton and returned to Riverdale this summer to assume his leadership position at SAR High School.

Women’s Learning with Rivky Rossler

Rabbi Dr. Moshe Drelich Shabbat Parsha and Sanhedrin Shiur, following the 7:00 AM minyan . Rabbi Charles Sheer Hashkama shiur takes place in room 201, following the hashkama kiddush. Rabbi Moshe Neiss Post-Mincha shiur takes place in the Beit Midrash.

Junior High BBQ

Thursday, September 5. Junior High boys and girls (6th -8th grades) are invited to the Haller's home for a meet and greet BBQ.

CHOPPED: Family Edition

Sunday, September 8, 11:00 AM. Presented by RJC Women and RJC Youth. This event is open to children, grades 1-5, and their parents. Please note this is not a drop off event and parents must accompany their children. The cost is $18 per person for RJC members and $25 per person for non-members. Family Shofar Workshop

Sunday, September 15, 2:00 PM. Come prepare for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur with RJC Youth for a shofar making workshop. We will learn all about shofars and every child will get to make their own real shofar. The event will take place in the RJC Social Hall; doors open at 1:30 PM and the workshop begins at 2:00 PM. High Holiday Seating

Preparations for Elul and the Yamim Noraim at the RJC are underway. In order to prepare for a meaningful Yamim Noraim season in our community, we are excited to invite you to participate in uplifting tefillot, meaningful learning opportunities, and enjoyable programming designed to bring our community together and enhance our holiday experience. High Holiday Babysitting

The Riverdale Jewish Center Youth Department is excited to continue its Babysitting Programming in the new year, 5780! All children will have the chance to enjoy a fun and educational Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur experience in a safe and warm environment.

Book of Remembrance

This year the RJC will continue our tradition of printing a Book of Remembrance in time for the High Holidays 5780. This booklet will contain a listing of names of departed souls and the members who wish to remember them. The booklet will be available in Shul throughout the year each time Yizkor is recited and will honor those friends and family members who have been called to their eternal reward.
