Introduction to the X11R6.8.2 Release The release numbering is based on the original MIT X numbering system. X11refers to the ver- sion of the network protocol that the X Window system is based on: Version 11was first released in 1988 and has been stable for 15 years, with only upwardcompatible additions to the coreX protocol, a recordofstability envied in computing. Abstract. In the present days of rapid adoption of micro-service, it is imperative to build a system to support and ensure the high performance and high availability for micro-services. Lightweight virtualization, which we also called container, has the ability to run multiple isolated sets of processes under a single kernel instance. Because of the possibility of obtaining a low overhead comparable to the near-native performance of a bare server, the container techniques, such as openvz, lxc, docker, they are widely used for micro-service [1]. In this paper, we present the high availability of micro-service in containers. We investigate capabilities provided by container (docker, openvz) to model and build the Micro-service infrastructure and compare different checkpoint and restore technologies for high availability. Finally, we present preliminary performance results of the infrastructure tuned to the micro-service. Introduction Lightweight virtualization, named the operating system level virtualization technology, partitions the physical machines resource, creating multiple isolated user-space instances. Each container acts exactly like a stand-alone server. A container can be rebooted independently and have root access, users, IP address, memory, processes, files, etc. Unlike traditional virtualization with the hypervisor layer, containerization takes place at the kernel level. Most modern operating system kernels now support the primitives necessary for containerization, including Linux with openvz, vserver and more recently lxc, Solaris with zones, and FreeBSD with Jails [2].

    MDNS/DNS-SD TUTORIAL In this tutorial, we will describe how to use mDNS/DNS-SD on Raspberry Pi. mDNS/DNS-SD is a protocol for service discovery in a local area network. It is standardized under RFCs 6762 [1] and 6763[2]. The protocol is also known by the Bonjour trademark by Apple, or Zeroconf. On Linux, it is implemented in the avahi package. [1] http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6762 [2] http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6763 About mDNS/DNS-SD There are several freely available implementations of mDNS/DNS-SD: 1. avahi – Linux implementation (http://www.avahi.org/) 2. jmDNS – Java implementation (http://jmdns.sourceforge.net/) 3. Bonjour – MAC OS (installed by default) 4. Bonjour – Windows (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL999?locale=en_US) During this course, we will use only avahi. However, any of the aforementioned implementations are compatible. Avahi installation avahi is available as a package for Raspbian. Install it with: sudo apt-get install avahi-deamon avahi-utils Avahi usage avahi-daemon is the main process that takes care of proper operation of the protocol. It takes care of any configuration of the interfaces and network messaging. A user can control the deamon with command line utilities, or via D-Bus. Publishing services avahi-publish-service is the command for publishing services. It has been designed to address the limitations and performance shortcomings of existing remote display technology, and to provide a building block around which novel desktop architectures can be built. THINC is architected around the notion of a virtual display device driver, a software-only component that behaves like a traditional device driver, but instead of managing specific hardware, enables desktop input and output to be intercepted, manipulated, and redirected at will. On top of this architecture, THINC introduces a simple, low-level, device-independent representation of display changes, and a number of novel optimizations and techniques to perform efficient interception and redirection of display output.
