“Don’t be afraid to change. You may lose something good but you may gain something better.” - Unknown FRIDAY, MAY 05, 2017 Morning Summary: Stock remain near their all-time highs. The Nasdaq is up over +15% year-to-date with the S&P 500 up over +7%. Crude oil on the other hand is trading at multi-month lows and is now down almost -20% year-to-date as U.S. production levels are nearing this of top producers such as Saudi Arabia and Russia. U.S. crude production now sits at around 9.29 million barrels a day, highest since the summer of 2015. With gas- oline demand lower and strong supplies there’s reason to believe prices at the pump may pullback in the next week or two. Today’s economic highlight will be the April Employment Report, which is expected to show U.S. employers added +175,000 to +185,000 new jobs with the unemployment rate ticking up slightly to 4.6% from a previous 4.5%. Keep in mind that March payrolls only grew by 98,000, a disappointing number that many ana- lysts attributed to temporary seasonal factors. If hiring does not indeed pick up from last month’s level, it could raise some concerns about a softening economy. Average hourly earnings and the participation rate will also be an important part of the overall equation. If both are increasing, it would send a signal that the job market may be close to full em- ployment, meaning adding new jobs is growing increasingly more difficult.

The Preakness Stakes, the second jewel of the elusive Triple Crown, is run between the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. Called “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans,” the Preakness is held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore on the third Saturday of each May. First run in 1873, the race is competed at a distance of 1 3/16 miles, 1/16 of a mile shorter than the Kentucky Derby, for 3-year-olds on the main dirt track. This year’s edition of the Preakness will be run on Saturday, May 19. After winning the Kentucky Derby and becoming the first horse since Apollo in 1882 to win “The Run for the Roses” while not having raced as a 2-year-old, Justify takes his next step towards a possible Triple Crown in Saturday’s Preakness. It won’t be easy, though, as Kentucky Derby runner-up Good Magic also makes the journey to Baltimore. This “2018 Preakness Guide presented by RacingDudes.com and Guaranteed Tip Sheet” will give you the information needed to hopefully make a nice return and a major score on the two big days at Pimlico, including Black-Eyed Susan Day on Friday, May 19! Sabini Member Charles Diamond Member Daniel Hogan Dear Chairman Sabini, Members Diamond and Hogan, Pursuant to the Racing and Wagering Board’s 2011 directive establishing the Racing Fan Advisory Council, I am pleased to present you with the Council’s inaugural report of recommendations for your consideration. The Racing Fan Advisory Council has been working hard over the past year to identify a comprehensive cross section of who the current racing fan is, who the possible new fans are, and what he/she wishes to see to make the sport more attractive and enjoyable. We have held several public events over the past year to gauge attitudes and ideas from existing fans. We also collaborated on our specific areas of expertise to outline ideas to better market and expand the sport. This initial report is a mere snapshot of the ideas proposed. We believe it is a series of realistic measures that can bring about positive change to the industry. As our mission continues into the next year, we will continue to identify and map out more comprehensive recommendations to bring more fans to the sport of horseracing.
