    THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.

    Leixlip - Local Area Plan 2020-2026 Submission by Catherine Murphy TD The core strategy contained within the Kildare County Development Plan 2017-2023 allocated one third of Kildare’s housing growth to Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth and Kilcock with the latter designated to accommodate 5% and each of the other three designated to accommodate 10%. At that time the underpinning plan was the National Spatial Strategy this has now been superseded by the National Planning Framework (NPF). The NPF was published in February 2018 in tandem with the National Development Plan (NDP). The NPF sought to prioritize growth in the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford with one of its aims to achieve compact growth and balance regional development. The publication of the NPF and NDP together was aimed to achieve a degree of certainty around the delivery of infrastructure alongside housing and industrial development, this is to be welcomed. Despite the change in focus contained in the NPF the settlement strategy for Kildare confirmed Leixlip’s position within the Dublin Metropolitan Area, largely on the basis of its proximity to the Maynooth Railway Line and the presence of two Railway Stations; Louisa Bridge and Confey. It is curious that no revision to the Kildare County Development Plan settlement strategy took place following the adoption of the NPF/NDP it does pose the question as to what guarantees there are for associated infrastructure and services should such large scale development take place. The allocation to Leixlip of 10% growth and the provision of 3315 new housing units is a huge challenge not least because of the very significant constraints which include; County Boundaries with Fingal; Meath and South Dublin – the presence of the River Liffey and the River Rye together with the Royal Canal – The M4 motorway – St Catherine’s Park and the Liffey Valley itself.

    Maynooth Scouts Celebrate 35 Years Maynooth Post Primary School Musical “Hairspray” TTT he 8th Kildare Maynooth Scouts had a very important celebration on Saturday 12th February. We have just celebrated 35 years in existence. The day got of to a great start when the sun came out. The meeting point was Carton Avenue at 11 15. We paraded through the main street behind St Mary's Pipe Band, the local guards stopped the traffic to allow the procession to make it's way to the Gunn Chapel for Mass at 12:00. We had a beautiful Mass, which was concelebrated by Fr. David Kennealy, Scouting Ireland Chaplin and Fr. Liam Rigney, Parish Priest, St. Mary's Parish. During the Mass the new members to each section were invested. Some of the youth members also took part by doing the readings and prayers of the faithful. We were also very happy to have the Folk Group accompanying us during the mass. We were also delighted to see that some of our local representatives took time out from their election preparations to spend some time with us. Tony Myles, Aoife O’Shea, Deirdre Butler, Karl Quinn. We know that many of our past members could not make it on the day, we especially remembered those members. After Mass we had use of the upper and lower Loftus hall for our reception. The parents and leaders provided a beautiful selection of food for a buffet. It was time to relax and WWW ell done to all the cast and crew of Hairspray which ran from meet our invited guests and get to know February 9th to 13th in the school.

The sewerage pipeline crosses the Rye Water Valley/Carton Special Area of Conservation and part of the route is adjacent to the protected site. The application for approval includes a Natura Impact Statement. 1.2 Section 177AE of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) requires that, where an appropriate assessment is required in respect of a local authority development, the proposed development shall not be carried out unless the Board has approved it with or without modifications. (As the competent authority for local authority development the Board is also required to carry out the appropriate assessment and to determine whether or not the proposed development would adversely affect the integrity of a European site).

The information presented includes status and risk categories of all water bodies, details on protected areas, significant issues, significant pressures, load reduction assessments, recommendations on future investigative assessments, areas for actions and environmental objectives. The characterisation assessments are based on information available to the end of 2015.
