Nha Trang, the capital of Khánh Hòa province, is located on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Located 450km from Saigon and 205km from Dalat, Nha Trang is the most popular beach destination, with clear waters excellent for fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Lang Son Pagoda, located in the town, was founded in the late 19th century and continues to accommodate resident monks. The entrance and roof of Lang Son are decorated with mosaic dragons constructed of glass and ceramic tile. At the top of the hill behind the pagoda you can find a huge white Buddha (Gautama) seated on a lotus blossom.

There is also an Institute of Oceanography in the town. Founded in 1923, the institute is home to many colorful specimens of local marine life. It has an aquarium, a specimen room and a library that is open to public. Located behind the main building, the large hall preserves hundreds of interesting specimens of sea birds and fish, corals and remains of other marine creatures. Another sight of Nha Trang is its cathedral, situated on a small hill overlooking the train station. It was built between 1928 and 1933 in French-Gothic style, complete with medieval-style stained glass windows. The cathedral is a surprisingly elegant building embossed by a light colourful Vietnamese touch.

Just 5km from the center of Nha Trang you can find the Thap Ba Hot Spring, where you can try a mud bath and relax for a while.

Po Nagar Cham Towers located just outside the town were built between the 7th and 12th centuries. The site was used for Hindu worship as early as the 2nd century AD. The towers serve as the Holy See honoring Goddess Yang Ino Po Nagar, the Goddess of the Dua clan which ruled over the southern part of the Cham Kingdom covering Kauthara and Pan Duranga. 3km North of the Cham Towers you can find the local market of Nha Trang, Dam Market (or Cho Dam). It is located in the city center and there you can try the good taste and wide variety of local food.

Islands around. Around Nha Trang There are lots of islands, where visitors can spend a whole day or even stay over night. Hon Tre Island, also known as Bamboo Island, is the largest island in the area. It is famous among the tourists for its beautiful resort Vinpearl, nice beach and entertainment. Another 12 km north of Hon Tre Island you can find the Lao Island (Monkey Island). Lots of monkeys live on this island, and tourists enjoy watching them. Another good possibility for snorkelling is the Mot Islands.
