Abstract: Thefecundityandeggsizeof3shrimpspecies, Crangoncrangon,Palaemonadspersus,and Palaemonelegans,were studiedoffSinopPeninsulaintheBlackSea.weresampledbybeamtrawlwithabeamlengthof3mand10mmcodend meshsize.Meanfecundityof C.crangon femaleswas2297±134(range:910-3630).Meaneggsize(shortestxlongestaxis)at earlyandlateembryonicdevelopmentstageswas0.472±0.005mmx0.509±0.008mmand0.489±0.003mmx0.627± 0.004mm,respectively.Meanfecundityoffemale P.adspersus was1963±144(range:758-3710).Meaneggsize(shortestx longestaxis)atearlyandlateembryonicdevelopmentstageswas0.585±0.005mmx0.739±0.011mmand0.622±0.005 mmx0.851±0.008mm,respectively.Meanfecundityoffemale P.elegans was1057±88(range:308-2628).Meaneggsize (shortestxlongestaxis)atearlyandlateembryonicdevelopmentstageswas0.455±0.005mmx0.567±0.007mmand0.479 ±0.008mmx0.707±0.007mm,respectively.Fecundityofallspecieswaspositivelycorrelatedtothesizeoftheindividuals.Egg sizeforeachspeciesincreasedwithincreasedembryonicdevelopmentstages.ANOVAresultsshowedthatmeaneggsizewas significantlydifferentbetweenearlyandlateembryonicdevelopmentalstagesofallshrimpspecies(P<0.05).

ThespecimenswerecollectedfromSinopPeninsula adspersus Rathke,1837,androckpoolshrimp, P.elegans betweenFebruary2002andJanuary2004.All Rathke,1837,occuralongtheMediterraneancoastof individualswerecapturedatdepthsbetween0and30m Spain,Portugal,MoroccoandintheBlackSea(Gueraoand withabeamtrawl3mlongand10mmcodendmesh Ribera,1995).Thebrownshrimp, C.crangon (L.),is size. abundantintheEasternAtlantic,inshallowcoastalareas withsandyormuddysubstrataandstrongtidalcurrents SpeciesidentificationwasbasedonKocatafletal. (Tiews,1970).ItsdistributionrangesfromtheWhiteSea (1991)andDolgopolskaya(1969).Allspecimenswere (USSR)totheAtlanticcoastofMorocco,andintothe clearlyrecognizedasCrangoncrangon(Linnaeus,1758), Baltic,Mediterranean,andBlackSeas.
