The 15-year old was assaulted at another family member's home located at 14 Shepherd Street in the city of I Hartford where she had gone to spend the night. Detective Franks said he was able to verify that though there were other children there, no one else had been touched. The 15-year old told a family member of the incident and they confronted Perez-Viera. Detective Franks said Perez-Viera decided to turn himself in and walked into the Van Buren Sheriffs Department and gave a full confession. Detective Franks said alcohol and drugs did not seem to be a factor in the assault. He said Perez-Viera could not give a satisfactory explanation as to why he did it when he was questioned. Perez-Viera was placed in jail and arraigned the next day. His preliminary hearing was set for February 251^ but was waived. He 2003 Bud Prince & Princess Pageant March I...
