We are all God’s Children

St. Benedict Joseph Labre Benedict Joseph Labre, the oldest of 18 children, was born in France. Poor health and a lack of education, made his attempts to enter the religious life unsuccessful. Then, at age 16, a profound change took place. Benedict lost his desire to study and gave up all thoughts of the priesthood and became a pilgrim, traveling from one great to another, living off alms. He wore the rags of a •Ask Deacon Andy McMahon how you can help beggar and shared his food with the poor. SCHOOL NEWS St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School Plans for 20202021 School Year We hope that you are enjoying your summer and staying safe and healthy. I would like to give you an update on our plan to start the 20202021 school year. We havebeen collaborating with the Toledo Diocese as well as other local schools and our local health department to help developour plan for the coming school year. Even though our plan is not finalized, I would like to share a few important details at this time. We plan to start the school year on Wednesday, August 19th, as scheduled. We plan to have inperson instruction five days a week. If any student, or student's family member is medically fragile and do not feel comfortable sending yourchild to school; we will work with each family on an individual basis to try and provide an alternative option to inperson instruction to the best of our ability. Students and Staff will be required to wear masks/face shields at times. However when social distancing is possible, masks will not be required. We will promote good hygiene, regular handwashing, and use of hand sanitizer. We are developing a plan to be more rigorous in our disinfecting of the classrooms and common spaces. It is our goal to release the complete plan for the start of the school year by Friday, August 7th, if not earlier. Until then, if you have any questions or concerns please call the school office and we will get back with you as soon as possible. Page 4 St. Mary of the Assumption, Van Wert
