INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF MAGICIANS HONORS SINGER AND ILLUSIONIST DARREN ROMEO

Branson, MO – June 26, 2006. Just weeks after magician David Copperfield gave singer and illusionist Darren Romeo a standing ovation, the International Brotherhood of Magicians chose to celebrate and honor Romeo’s one of a kind performance. On Friday, June 23, 2006, during Romeo’s live show, he received the illustrious citation for achievement in magical arts from the international president of the International Brotherhood of (I.B.M), Mr. Roger Miller. “I am incredibly honored to be receiving this award at my show,” said Darren Romeo. “This is my passion and to be recognized for something that you love to do is the best feeling. I am so humbled to know that I’ve been supported by the biggest names in magic and that what I am doing here on this stage every night is making a difference.” This honor has been bestowed upon some of the most notable illusionists in our history since I.B.M’s inception in 1926, including Harry Blackstone, , David Copperfield and Siegfried & Roy (mentors to Romeo), who received the only citation for lifetime achievement. Romeo has been enjoying a tremendous year with his partnership with NASCAR and Jeff Gordon whereby the famous #24 car appears nightly in front of a live audience on Siegfried & Roy Present Darren Romeo, the Voice of Magic at the Welk Resort Theater. This partnership is a first between NASCAR and an illusionist of any sort on a nightly live show. He is also the spokesperson of the much anticipated launch of Branson Landing, a $450 million mega-complex complete with residences, retail shops, dining, recreation, entertainment and relaxation that come together by the waterside.

ABOUT DARREN ROMEO Named after music legend Bobby Darin, Darren Romeo, better known to his fans as “Romeo”, grew up to the songs of his namesake and other music legends. However, his first love was magic. It wasn't until high school that Romeo discovered his passion for singing, through leading roles in musicals including Bye Bye Birdie and Pippin. It was his musical theatre dramatics that eventually led to his unique approach to the performance of magic. Acknowledging that there’s something magical about music, Romeo set out to meld the two disciplines. Though he explored all types of music, Romeo was tremendously influenced by the work of Andrew Lloyd Webber whose compositions are featured in several pieces in Romeo’s show. Romeo was named Magician of the Year 2004 by the Academy of Magical Arts Awards, , Hollywood, and Best Show 2004 by the BransonCritic Awards. In 2004 Romeo was also honored for his exceptional contributions to magic and performance by The Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.). With a growing fan base, accolades as Best Show 2005 by the BransonCritic Awards and more – fate, destiny and the future appear quite bright for this talented entertainer. Romeo can be seen these days on national media outlets such as Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Extra, The Insider and Details Magazine.
