SSET’S S G Balekundri Institute of Technology Belagavi Department of Civil Engineering “Effective Teaching Pedagogy for Technical College Teachers” S G Balekundri Institute of Technology, organised three days National Level Workshop on “Effective Teaching Pedagogy for Technical College Teachers”. On this occasion Dr Anand Pandurangi and Dr Aditya Pandurangi were the chief guests on this occassion. Speakers are renowned psychiatrists of Karnataka and they discussed the problems faced by young minds and elaborated on counselling techniques. Dr.S.S.Salimath in his presidential remarks expressed that the teachers role in this period is so high and also responsible to change the behaviour of the students. Dr.B.R.Patagundi welcomed the gathering, Prof.G.V.Donurmath gave the overview of the program, Prof.Akshata Mulagund delivered vote of thanks. 1. Lightening of Lamp during Inaugural function Dr Aditya Pandurangi delivered a talk on “Understanding the challenges of young minds” & Dr Anand Pandurangi on “Motivating the young minds”. Mrs. Swati Jog briefed on “Emotional Intelligence/Emotional Quotient for Teachers” Er. Basavaraj Hooli and Er. Shaila Hooli conducted various sessions on “Educational Challenges”, “Socratic model for Knowledge Creation”, “Learning in the knowledge age”, “Neuroscience of Learning”, “Learning Agility for Professional Development”, “Triangle of Success”, “Synergogy”, “Team Effectiveness Design and Performance Judging Design”, “Attitudes Underlying Effective Behaviour”. “Valedictory function of the three days National Level Workshop” S G Balekundri Institute of Technology Belagavi, concluded the three days National Level Workshop on “Effective Teaching Pedagogy for Technical College Teachers” on 5th August 2017. For the Valedictory.Mr. Basavaraj Hooli was the chief guest, he stressed upon the changes in the trends of teaching methodology. The Honourable President of the SSET’s his holiness Dr. Siddharam Swamiji of RudrakshiMath, Nagnoor gave his blessings through his ashirvachana. Dr.S.S.Salimath , Principal, SGBIT. Dr. Siddaram swamiji of RudrakshiMath, Nagnoor during his ashirvachana “Inauguration of Association of Civil Engineering Students (ACES)” Inaugural function of ACES was organised on 30/08/2017 in the seminar Hall of S G Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi. Er. Ashok Reddy Kollur, Regional Head, Ultratech Cement Ltd. was the chief guest and Shri. Gangappa M. Malagi, Freedom Fighter was the Guest of Honour. Chief Guest in his address encouraged aspiring engineering students to take up the challenges in Civil Engineering field. He enlightened the students about the scope of Infrastructural development and advised students to develop the skills to take up these challenges. Veteran freedom fighter Shri. Gangappa M. Malagi shared his unforgettable memories of his association with Mahatma Gandhiji, when Gandhiji stayed in Hudali for a week. Dr.S.S. Salimath, Principal, SGBIT in his presidential remarks suggested the students to be innovative for developing eco-friendly Civil Engineering materials. Dr. B. R. Patagundi Head of the Civil Engineering Department welcomed the Gathering and also freshers to the Department. and Prof. C. K. Sridhar briefed about the proposed activities of the association. TEACHER’S DAY AND ENGINEER’S DAY CELEBRATION Teachers Day and Engineer’s Day Celebration was organised on 15th September 2017 in seminar hall at S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology Belagavi. The Chief Guests were Introduced by Prof. G B Deshpande and Prof. Sagar Waghmare. Prof. Bharati Chiniwalar, Chair person Institute of Engineer and Er. Shreya Deshpande, Entrepreneur, Deshpande Industries, Belagavi were the chief guest. Dr. S. S. Salimath, Principal of SGBIT Belagavi welcomed the gathering. Prof. Bharati Chiniwalar shared the views about Teacher’s Day and Engineer’s Day. Also she mentioned about opportunities for various branches of Engineering in leading companies. Er. Shreya Deshpande enlightened the students on various aspects of Entrepreneurship and she also stressed on many hardships which a person must undergo to become a great Entrepreneur. Shreya Deshpande delivering a talk Site Visit Report to Belagavi Central Bus stand under Construction As a part of industrial visit pre final year students of Civil Engineering department SGBIT Belagavi were taken to central bus stand which is under construction on 2nd November 2017 to. 120 students attended the same along with Prof. Vishwanath R Charantimath, Prof. Spurthi. Mamdapur and Prof. Rahul Bannur. Students were explained about the shape of the bus stand by Site Engineer Mr. Jothiba. It would look like English alphabet “F” (Plan). Students were enlightened with the aspects of steel reinforcement of columns, footings, beams and slabs. 7. Site Engineers Sneha R. Bannur, Jyotiba and Prof. Spurti M. along with students Study tour for the Third semester students was organized on 04th October 2017 to APJ Abdul Kalam Geology museum at GSSc college, Belagavi. Visit was organized under the guidance of Prof. Sagar Waghmare and Prof. Parashuram Sawant. During the visit students were exposed to the various geological specimens, rocks, minerals as well various types of building materials and Fossils. Visit was planned with an intention to give hands on experience on geological specimens. During the visit students received a chance to participate in the grand exhibition of Minerals and rocks, which is the personal collection of M.F.Makki, Mineral Exporter, Pune. Students were amazed to see such a collection and they received the exposure to the geology and earths wonder. 8. Students along with Faculty members 9. Students along with Faculty members are observing different minerals in an Exibition. Industrial tour was arranged for VII semester students on 20/11/2017 to study about steel structures. Students along with Prof Sagar B. & Prof Rahul B visited Kapeel Founders, Navage site to know about the Pre Engineered Building structure. Prof Sagar B. explained about the eccentric bracket connections, connections between column & beam, beam to beam and also about high strength friction grip bolts[HSFG], welding portion. The design criteria of failures were explained in detail with theoretical problems. \ 10. Balekundri Institute of Technology Belagavi And Vijay Karnataka, daily news paper jointly celebrated world water day & international day of forests on 21.03.2018 at 11.30am Shri Krishna Udpudi, Dr. Madhav Prabhu and Prof. Nagaraj patil were present as the guest for the function. Shri Krishna Udpudi, Chief Conservator of forest, Belagavi Circle stressed on the importance of conserving the ecology by planting trees and role of forest in water conservation. Speaking on this occasion, Shri M. K. Hegde, Chief Editor Vijay Karnataka encouraged students to develop environmental awareness to preserve the healthy atmosphere for the next generation. Dr. Madhav Prabhu, President, Pyaas foundation shared his experiences of rejuvenating dead lakes & inspired the students to take up social works. Dr. Nagaraj Patil, Associate Professor, VTU, Belagavi explained the feasible technical solution to solve the water scarcity problem. Dr. B.R. Patagundi welcomed the gathering. Salimath giving presidential remarks Industrial Visit Industrial tour was arranged for 6th semester students on 06/04/2018 to Visit Kapeeel Founders, Navage site. Prof.Sagar explained about the eccentric bracket connections, connection between beam & column and beam to beam connection. Prof. Sujata Shreedhar and Prof Basavaraj Pawar explained about gusset plate, angle bolted and welded connections. Students were also exposed to Gantry girder and roof truss connection. Students observing the process of melting the metal and preparing sections The students are assessing different types of sections and their connections Industrial tour was arranged for 4th &6th semester students to Balaji Ready Mix Concrete Plant, P.B Road Halaga, Belagavi on 06/04/2018. Process of RMC was explained by Plant Incharge by Er.Ramesh. The industrial visit has given a very good exposure to all the students with regard to mixing and making of ready mix concrete, which is an essential requirement of construction of structures at the site. About 120 students were benefited from this visit as they got chance to discuss with authorities
