RAF Benevolent Fund Dinner Saturday 6th July 2019, 7.00 for 7.30pm £35pp, Champagne on arrival, 3 course dinner with 1/2 bottle of wine

The Club will host a fundraising dinner to mark the RAF Benevolent Fund’s centenary year. The guest speaker for the evening is Air Marshal Gerry Mayhew CBE MA who is Deputy Commander Operations HQ Air Command. He is a former Air Officer and commander of RAF . A silent auction will be held during the dinner with the proceeds, including any donations, in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund. Two silent auction prizes are available. Members who are unable to attend the dinner but would like to bid on the silent auction prizes may do so. The first prize is a VIP visit for the winner and 3 guests to the RAF Memorial Flight (BBMF) at RAF , . BBMF does not normally host visits and this is an exceptional opportunity to view the aircraft, which shaped the nation’s history. RAFBF will include an overnight stay for the party at the Petwood Hotel, that was the Officer’s Mess for No 617 Squadron (The Dambusters) during World War II. At RAF Coningsby there are RAF Typhoon squadrons and they are likely to be flying throughout the visit. (Valid for 12 months, dates to be mutally agreed).

The second prize is a VIP invitation to the Broomhall House weekend on 6th & 7th September hosted by Lord Charles Bruce (Earl of Elgin). The prize will comprise 2 places at the ‘invitation-only’ dinner on 6 September at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, North Queensferry and overnight accommodation.

On 7th September, the winner will be driven to Broomhall House in one of the ‘fast, classic cars’ via the Forth Road Bridge. The winner will be part of the private event at Broomhall House, including 100 classic cars and the centrepiece – the original motorcycle from the film The Great Escape – view the flying display, lunch and afternoon tea and a tour of Broomhall House by Lord Bruce. At the dinner in the Club there will also be an opportunity to win a bottle of the RAF’s recently commissioned Lord Trenchard Gin and a bottle of Benromach single malt, both of which will be included within the envelope raffle.
