In 2019, the total nonmetallic production quantity and value in pesos are 6,048,493 and P413,772,146 respectively.

During this period, there is no production of metallic minerals.

GROWTH CY 2018-2019 PRODUCTION VOLUME The growth in production volume has spurred 12.19% from 5,391,248 cu.m in the previous year to 6,048,493 cu.m in the present year. The increase in production volume may be stimulated not only by the local demand but also due to the increase in demand of non-metallic minerals specifically sand and gravel by the no. of projects made available by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Thus, the emerging growth in economic performance of the region may be seen as opportunity growth in the mining industry as well.

EMPLOYMENT

The total employees hired by mining contractors/operators is 1,084. Disaggregated by gender: 920 men and 164 women. Therefore, the workforce in the mining industry is dominated by men which is 85%, while 15% are women. OVERVIEW OF REVENUE COLLECTION

The mining industry in the Philippines is in a progressive state as the demand for production of minerals (metallic and non-metallic) boosts as the moratorium on the issuance of new mining permits is expected to be lifted once the second package of the new tax reform is passed into law. The build, build, build program of President Rodrigo Duterte accelerates not only the mining industry but not limited to manufacturing, agriculture, and research and development.

The total estimated excise taxes paid by local mining operators/permit holders in the region is P30,820,040 and total estimated extraction fees paid by the same is P90,371,562. The total revenue collected is P124,681,363.60, which is greater by 86% than the previous year.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION & REHABILITATION - The Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation refers to the comprehensive and strategic environmental management objectives, criteria and commitments including protection and rehabilitation of the disturbed environment.

A total of Php 25,272,405.88 was committed by operating mines for the implementation of approved plans/programs/projects /activities. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT & PROTECTION - The Philippine Mining Act and its implementing rules and regulations mandate that mining companies devote funds consisting of a percentage of total operating costs for their Social Development and Management Programs ("SDMP"). The SDMP is a fund meant to promote the development and general welfare of host and neighboring communities. A substantial portion of SDMP funds are devoted to infrastructure development in areas where there are mining operations. The country's mining projects have contributed substantially to the infrastructure development in the countryside.

A total of Php 9,600,426 was committed by operating mines for the development of their host and neighboring communities.

MINING FOREST PROGRAM

The Mining Forest Program (MFP) and National Greening Program (NGP) is -in line with the expanded NGP under EO 193, and in compliance with existing mining and environmental laws, rules and regulations. Mining contractors /operators adhere and support mine environmental protection and enhancement programs through responsible mining.

A total of 78,113 no. of seedlings planted/donated by operating mines with a total area of 163 hectares for the MFP and NGP.
