Deprivation of Liberty and Torture/Other Mistreatment of Human Rights Defenders in China (Partial data: January 1 - December 31, 2014)
This partial data has been compiled by Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD). It is based on information collected from reports by human rights organizations working in mainland China. The data focuses on the period from January 1 - December 31, 2014, and includes 955 cases of human rights defenders (HRDs) who are known/believed to have been deprived of liberty for at least five (5) days during the period. In addition, the data includes HRDs who are known to have been tortured or inhumanely treated in retaliation for their rights advocacy work, regardless of length of detention. (Cases are listed in descending chronological order of initial date of detention, with the most recent cases first.)
