1. Scope The 7.62 mm DDI cartridge will be tested to determine if the proposed design is capable of meeting requirements defined by applicable specifications and drawings. Bid samples shall be provided with the offeror’s proposal to be tested and evaluated by the USG to support a source selection decision. Visual and dimensional requirements will be inspected against a go/no go criteria prior to any functional testing. If visual and dimensional inspections pass, the samples will then be rated on a scale for required functional testing.

3. Documentation 3.1. Certification of compliance for materials used in the cartridge design. 3.2. If applicable, certifications shall be supplied for any sub-vendor processes.
4. Bid Sample Test Requirements 4.1. Quantity 4.1.1. Each vendor shall submit one (1) 7.62mm DDI cartridge designs for evaluation. A quantity of one hundred fifty (150) 7.62mm DDI cartridges shall be shipped to Picatinny Arsenal for bid sample testing. 4.2. Dimensional and Visual Inspection (Appendix A) 4.2.1. All sample cartridges will be subject to gaging and dimensional inspections for all key characteristics using standard ammo inspection gages and measurement instruments. 4.2.2. All sample cartridges will be visually inspected for color compliance, head stamp, quality of workmanship, and any cartridge related defects. 4.3. Functional Testing (Appendix A) 4.3.1. Twelve (12) sample cartridges will be linked with M13 links and cycled through an M240B machine gun manually a total of twenty five (25) times to determine the ability to properly interface with the weapon, and examine the durability of the cartridges. 4.3.2. Ten (12) sample cartridges will be linked with M13 links and manual cycled through an M134 Minigun twenty-five (25) times. 4.3.3. Ten (12) sample cartridges will be linked with M13 links and powered cycled through an M134 Minigun twenty-five (25) times. 4.3.4. Twenty (20) sample cartridges will be loaded into standard issue magazines, and cycled through an M14 series weapon a total of fifteen (15) times to determine the ability to properly interface with the weapon system.
