Noakhali District GEO Code based Unique Water Point ID Noakhali District Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) June, 2018 How to Use This Booklet to Assign Water Point Identification Code: Assuming that a contractor or a driller is to install a Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump in SULTANPUR village BEMARTA union of BAGERHAT SADAR uapzila in BAGERHAR district. This water point will be installed in year 2010 by a GOB-Unicef project. The site of installation is a bazaar. The steps to assign water point code (Figure 1) are as follows: Y Y Y Y R O O W W Z Z T T U U U V V V N N N Figure 1: Format of Geocode Based Water Point Identification Code Step 1: Write water point year of installation as the first 4 digits indicated by YYYY. For this example, it is 2010. Step 2: Select land use type (R) code from Table R (page no. 4). For this example, a bazaar for rural commercial purpose, so it is 4. Step 3: Select water point type of ownership (OO) from Table OO (page no. 4) . For this example, it is 05. Step 4: Select water point type (WW) code from Table WW (page no. 5). For this example, water point type is Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump. Therefore its code is 01. Step 5: Assign district (ZZ), upazila (TT) and union (UUU) GEO Code for water point. The GEO codes are as follows: for BAGERGAT district, ZZ is 01; for BAGERHAR SADAR upazila, TT is 08; and for BEMARTA union, UUU is 151. Step 6: GEO codes for SULTANPUR village, VVV is 368. Step 7: Assign 3 digits serial number (NNN). If this is the first water point installed at BEMARTA union in year 2010 then assign serial number (NNN) 1 as 001. Serial number should be used only once in a fiscal year. The second water point installed by any projects, regardless of the type, as long as it is in the same union, it will receive a serial number of 002. Highlights As of 15 June 2020, according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), there are 90,619 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh, including1,209 related deaths; Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is 1.33%. On 12 June 2020, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/DGHS introduced “Bangladesh Risk Zone-Based COVID- 19 Containment Implementation Strategy/Guide,” dividing areas in Red, Yellow and Green Zone based on the prevailing risk of the COVID-19 spread. Although the local authorities ignore the recyclable solid waste materials during waste management activity, a number of self-waste collectors and dealers have been performing recycling activity as a source of acquirement for long periods of time in Bangladesh. In our present study, a traditional recycling practice of solid waste was executed and analyzed in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali, Bangladesh. This study also identified a complete concatenation from waste collectors to recycling industries in different private sectors. The study revealed that 41% metal, 37% paper, 14% tin and 8% plastic of Sonapur was recycled daily. On the other hand, the study also revealed that 44% metal, 21% paper, 19% tin and 16% plastic of Maijdee was recycled daily.

Abstract: Hazard is a harmful incident for human life which can destroy so many precious things like crops, houses, cattle, others wealth like money, furniture, valuable documents and human lives also. So many hazards are happens like earthquake, tsunamis, drought, volcanic eruption, floods etc for natural reasons. Global warming, human interferences increase those incidents of hazard. Flood is a one of the hazard which basically happens for natural reason but human interferences increase the frequency and depth of this which is very destructive for human society. Nadia is a historically very famous district lies between 22053’ N and 24011’ N latitude and longitude from 88009 E to 88048 E, covering an area of 3,927 square km under the State of West Bengal in India but regular incidents of floods almost every year in time of monsoon is a big problem here. Unscientific development works from British Period hamper the drainage systems of Nadia and create many incidents of flood in colonial period. Still now millions of people face this problem in various blocks of Nadia. Development in scientific way, preservation of water bodies & river, dig new ponds & canals, increase awareness programme between publics, modernise flood warning system, obey the safety precaution rules in time of flood can save the people from this hazard.

    Bangladesh Rice J. 21 (2) : 109-122, 2017 Diversity of Cropping Systems in Chittagong Region S M Shahidullah1*, M Nasim1, M K Quais1 and A Saha1 ABSTRACT The study was conducted over all 42 upazilas of Chittagong region during 2016 using pre-tested semi- structured questionnaire with a view to document the existing cropping patterns, cropping intensity and crop diversity in the region. The most dominant cropping pattern Boro−Fallow−T. Aman occupied about 23% of net cropped area (NCA) of the region with its distribution over 38 upazilas out 42. The second largest area, 19% of NCA, was covered by single T. Aman, which was spread out over 32 upazilas. A total of 93 cropping patterns were identified in the whole region under the present investigation. The highest number of cropping patterns was 28 in Naokhali sadar and the lowest was 4 in Begumganj of the same district. The lowest crop diversity index (CDI) was observed 0.135 in Chatkhil followed by 0.269 in Begumganj. The highest value of CDI was observed in Banshkhali, Chittagong and Noakhali sadar (around 0.95). The range of cropping intensity values was recorded 103−283%. The maximum value was for Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur district and minimum for Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali district. As a whole the CDI of Chittagong region was 0.952 and the average cropping intensity at the regional level was 191%.
