The University of Athletic Department established the Penn Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996 to honor the greatest student-athletes and coaches ever to wear and coach the Red and Blue. After nine induction ceremonies, the list of honorees now includes 190 people who helped create Penn’s rich athletic history and tradition.

Kirsten M. Crothers was an active participant in four intercollegiate sports, as well as an integral part of the college community on numerous levels. As a senior in 1945, Crothers led the Penn field hockey team to its first undefeated season with a 5-0-1 record and Crothers was named Who’s Who in American Colleges. One of the biggest events that year was the founding of Athlon (the Greek word for Athletics) as an athletic honor society for women at Penn. Crothers was elected as a charter member and she and her fellow hockey teammates were awarded gold hockey sticks to commemorate their championship season. Crothers also held the high honor as president of the WAA (Women’s Athletic Association) from 1945-46. During her years at Penn, Crothers played a key role in helping basketball, softball, badminton, swimming, hockey, , bowling and become varsity sports at Penn. She was also a member of the first class of women to be inhabitants of Weightman Hall, formerly an exclusively male facility. For her work as a true pioneer of women’s sports, Crothers was awarded the Father’s Trophy Award in 1946. Honors and accolades abound, Crothers was a true all-star while an undergraduate at Penn. She was a two-time captain of the field hockey, basketball and tennis teams. She was named to the Mid- Atlantic College All-Star Hockey Team for three years and served as its captain in 1944 and 1945. Her basketball exploits earned her consecutive nominations to the Metropolitan All-Star first-team and she was named an All-American in lacrosse for four-straight seasons. Dorfmeister is second on Penn’s three- point shooters list with a total of 160.

20.) Katarina Poulsen (1990-94) 1,024 Points Katarina Poulsen had a red-hot career with the Quakers. Her specialty was free throws and blocks which she still holds records in. She is tied for first for the most career free throws made (289) and is the sole holder of first place for the most blocks in a career (194). Poulsen owns the block category, holding first, second, and third places for most blocks in a season and first and second place for having the most blocks in a game. Poulsen, a member of the 1,000 point club with a total of 1,024, was the Quakers’ scoring leader for the 1993-94 season and was also the team MVP.

21.) Beth Stegner (1979-83) 1,013 Points Beth Stegner was the team’s MVP for the 1982-83 season and with good reason. She was already in her second season of holding the squad’s scoring leader position. While she was great at tossing the ball into the hoop, she was even better at getting that same ball back. Stegner is at the top of Penn’s list for steals in a season (70) and is fourth all- time in career steals (185).

22.) Colleen Kelly (1994-98) 1,000 Points When it comes to scoring 1,000 points, Colleen Kelly has probably one of the most interesting stories in Penn women’s basketball history. With 7.2 seconds remaining in her senior season, Kelly went up to the free throw line and promptly swished her 1,000th point to become the 12th player in program history to reach the milestone. Kelly was not without her own accolades during her four-year career as she was listed second in three-pointers in a season with 70 (1997-98), was the all-time leader in three-pointers made in a game with seven (twice in 1997-98) and the all-time leader in three-pointers made in a career with 170.
