Dearest of the day was a 712kg Simmental steer, in from Messrs M D Curtis & Son of Gunwalloe, , selling to Mr D A Ellis of Lelant for £1445 (203p/kg).

A small but quality entry forward this week saw Mr I G Thomas of Hayle top the stores with a single British Blue X 23 month old steer selling to £1,195 followed by an Aberdeen Angus X steer at £1,085 for the same vendor. The heifers reached a top price of £910 for a tremendous pair of 17 month old Hereford crosses for Messrs P T, M C & I M Noy of Helston.

A tremendous trade from start to finish. Highlights of the sale were young Limousin x bulls flying away to £410 and & £400 on behalf of Messrs L W & S Hosken of Helston; closely followed with a British Blue x bull calf at £395 for C J & J E Colwell of Creed. A Simmental x bull made £395 for Messrs S & K Kendall of Lanivet. Hereford x calves saw a strong trade again with the best pair of bulls at £370 apiece for Messrs J H & S M Darke of Mullion. The heifer calves all under a month old saw solid demand with the best of the British Blue x at £270 for Messrs C J & P H George of Tresillian, and Limousin x to £260 for Messrs S & K Kendall.

Also high in the averages were a smart pen of 45.2kg Texels from Mr G M Henwood of Praze, selling at 261p/kg to J V Richards Ltd of Perranwell Station.

Two pens of powerful Charollais x Texel ewes from Mr J D Couch of realised £200. The best of two pens of Beltex x 2T ewes from Mr T Blake of St Stephen sold at £160.
