Nov. 3 NHIAA Finals...... 7 pm Under 12th-year head coach Jenn Kuehl (Class of 2001), the Tigers have put to- gether the most prolific string of success in not only program history, but in any sport in school history. While making the state tournament has been happening for decades, Kuehl has made deep runs into the tourney an annual right of pas- sage. With five championship game appearances in her first 11 seasons on the Tigers' sideline, Kuehl amassed an unheardof record of 169-44 (.793) coming into this season.

Despite the loss of the program's 4th all-time kill leader (574) Kayleigh MacDougall and Gillian Kobbe to graduation, the 2017 squad not only continued their success, they've been unstoppable. At the time of publication, the Tigers are one of just three undefeated teams in Division III with a 10-0 record on the season and have been dismantling their competition rather easily. In fact, Farmington has lost just one set on the entire year.

With just two seniors on the 2017 roster (Clara Moore and Kristina Radcliffe), the Tigers are not only set for a deep run into this year's playoffs, but also look to be in line to continue TATYANA LONG Junior the trend for seasons ahead. An outstanding junior class of libero Morgan Cunningham, right side hitter Shannon Kobbe, setter Tatyana Long and outside hitter Katie Martineau are keys to the Tigers success, while sophomores Sami Cardinal and Haley Maynard are steady contributors. The wheels keep turning on the program for Kuehl's program and they look to be headed to Plymouth for another tourney run.

Be sure to save the dates for JENN KUEHL the 2017 NHIAA Division III FHS Class of 2001 Girls Volleyball Tournament as Head Coach the action gets underway with preliminary round play on Oct. 26 at the higher seed at 6 p.m. Quarterfinals are also at home sites on Oct. 28.

3 Farmington Alumni Athletics Newsletter | Fall 2017 TIGER TRAILS Once a Tiger, always a Tiger! Even though their Farmington High School careers might be over, we're still hot on the trails of the FHS alumni that are continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Check out the latest news surrounding some former Tigers, including three from the Class of 2017 alone that made their debuts this fall on an NCAA squad and a volleyball star that is making some noise in Maine.

4 Farmington Alumni Athletics Newsletter | Fall 2017 TIGER TRAILS Thompson digs into record books

Junior Jennelle Thompson is do- ing just fine for the St. Joseph's College of Maine volleyball team, especially considering she was recruited by the Monks to play softball.

The FHS all-time strikeout leader (716) was recruited as a pitcher by St. Joe's and played her fresh- man season in the circle for the Monks, but she has since turned her focus solely to vol- leyball and she has done so in record-setting fashion.

While Thompson's freshman sea- son on the softball team was noth- ing to sneeze at with a 4.44 ERA and a .417 batting average, the Human Resource Management major was tearing it up on the volleyball court. In her first season for the Monks, Thompson lead the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in digs en route to being named the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and garnering first team all-conference honors.

In her 2016 sophomore campaign, Thompson said goodbye to softball alto- JENNELLE THOMPSON gether and continued her dominance on the court. She once again received FHS Class of 2015 GNAC Libero of the Year accolades (the Defensive Player of the Year award was renamed) and was tabbed first team all-conference for the second-straight season.

Thompson etched her name into the SJC record books in the second match of her 2017 junior season when she tallied the 1,364th dig of her career, a program record. The FHS all-time digs leader (1,005) has nearly two full seasons left with the Monks, so it's safe to say that Thompson will continue to dig into the record books and leave a lasting legacy at St. Joe's as she did at FHS.

5 Farmington Alumni Athletics Newsletter | Fall 2017 MARTINEAU NEARS MILESTONE

The 2017-18 basketball season is on the horizon and with it comes great anticipa- tion, particularly for the varsity girls team and junior Katie Martineau. In just two sea- sons of action, the 5'6" guard has amassed an impressive 877 points and is now just 123 points shy of becoming just the fourth female in school history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Martineau, who was crowned the three-point shootout champion at the 2016 Mike Lee Holiday Basketball Bash, is a gifted offensive player with the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. In addition to her long-range shooting, Martineau also boasts a tough-to-defend floater in the lane and seems to make a living at the free throw line. She was a standout performer from the onset for the Tigers as she poured in 370 points as a freshman and then followed that up with 507 points last season as a sophomore. Mar- tineau is well on her way to becoming the next 1,000-point scorer and with two full seasons left in her FHS career, the girls basketball all-time scoring record of 1,432 points, held by Julie (Gagne) Gesner (Class of 1990), is within reach.

While Martineau is a prolific scorer, she is fortunate to be surrounded by an impressive supporting cast, including fellow classmates Tatyana Long and Shannon Kobbe. The junior trio works well in head coach Dawn Weeks' uptem- po offense and they could make some waves come tourna- ment time this season and next.

Last season, FHS got a taste of tourney play as the seventh-seeded Tigers won their first playoff game in 20 years before getting tripped up on the road at KATIE MARTINEAU Colebrook in the quarterfinals. Martineau didn't let the big stage bother her as Junior she poured in 28 and 24 points, respectively, in the Division IV first round and quarterfinal games.

6 Farmington Alumni Athletics Newsletter | Fall 2017 Started in the fall of 2002, the Farmington Sports Hall of Fame has inducted nearly 80 members to the prestigious group and the biennial In- duction Ceremony continues to be a premier event in town.

With the old "Den" at Henry Wilson Memorial School as the event backdrop, generations of past and present Tigers congregate to celebrate deserving athletes and contributors within the Farmington sports scene. A "Who's Who" of Tigers reminisce with old friends during the social hour and enjoy a catered meal for dinner before being treated to video vignettes of the night's hon- orees, highlight videos and more. In addition to the Hall of Fame class, the committee also honors recipients of the Moul- ton Medal and Ellison Award. The Moulton Med- al recognizes a unique contribution to Farm- ington Sports, a “Friend of Farmington”-type of award, while the Ellison Award is given to a business, organization, or individual who has displayed outstanding generosity to community athletics.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place every-other fall and the Hall of Fame committee is now accepting nominations for the 9th induction ceremony which will take place in the fall of 2018. To nominate a candidate for the Hall of Fame, please email Joel Chagnon [email protected].
