Midday meals as crucial as classes: Survey Authority
A state-wide survey (Karnataka) has revealed a greater demand from people for reopening of
schools from classes 1 to 5, and resumption of hot cooked meals and hot milk scheme. One of the key takeaways from the survey conducted to weigh the success/need of the Happiness Kit initiative showed that there is urgent need to support children with meals when schools are closed for the holidays. Going forward, Akshaya A state-wide survey has revealed a greater demand from people for reopening Patra, channeling the learning over the past year of schools from classes 1 to 5, and resumption of hot cooked meals and hot milk will now continue to support children with Happiness Kits through the holidays to ensure the scheme. COVID-19 RELIEF EFFORTS
Dry Grocery Kits Are Being Delivered in 32 Locations
Every kit equals 42/28 meals depending on the location served, and includes an array of non-perishable foods like rice, dal (lentils), wheat or millet flour, fortified salt, sugar, and spices. Ingredients vary in every State to meet local tastes.
Cooked Meals Are Served in 28 Locations
Fresh meals served comprise of dal and rice, or khichadi/roti and subji.
Relief Efforts have also extended to Flood Relief in Bihar and Assam, and distribution of grocery kits to pregnant and lactating mothers, and young children in Anganwadi Centres

UOB Supports 4,411 Underprivileged Children in Thane, Maharashtra with Happiness Kits
UOB, a leading bank in Asia, has collaborated with The Akshaya Patra Foundation to distribute 4,411 Happiness Kits to underprivileged children in Thane, Maharashtra during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds used to purchase the Happiness Kits were raised during the UOB Global Heartbeat Virtual Run/Walk last year, UOB’s flagship employee volunteerism and fundraising event. UOB colleagues from across the Bank’s global network, including India, stepped up to raise funds for charities, clocking a total distance of more than 2,00,000 kms throughout the month of October.
