Activity Based Joyful Training for Trainings on Vegetables/ Primary School Teachers Fruit Processing and Preservation LASOONA is committed to provide quality instruction to primary schools teachers . Establishment of Plots LASOONA with the support of DKH launched “Integrated Food Security and WASH Project to strengthen the resilience of most vulnerable households and villages in 4 selected union councils of district Swat”. Under the Project, demonstration seed multiplication plots of rice, maize and glandulous cut flowers were established with vulnerable community/ small farmers of the selected union councils. Resource Persons (CRPs) On Basic Agriculture Techniques LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development arranged three days training event on basic agriculture techniques in Union Council Barabakhel Swat. The farmers/CRPs were trained in land management especially in ploughing methods, bed preparation, leveling, grafting, cutting, farm clearance, weeds control, FYM application, fertilizer application, pit preparation, top working, use of pesticides and precautionary sprays.

Capacity development is also one of the major components of the SPSP project it contains training such as Government officials training on Approach to Total Sanitation (PATS), CRPs training, Village Sanitation Committees training and school teachers on School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS). Under this program, training was conducted for 10 primary school teachers on SLTS with the coordination of district education department. The training was part of Pakistan Approach to Total sanitation(PATS) Project implemented by LASOONA in collaboration with UNICEF. The trained school teachers will further trained School WASH clubs and overcome sanitations issues within the school and its catchment area through children.

WORLD WATER DAY

In 2016, World Water Day has the theme "Water and Jobs ". World Water Day was celebrated on 22nd March-2016. LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development celebrated World Water Day at district Shangla. In this event, the staff delivered the awareness raising messages regarding water issues through different activities like walk, skit competition, Quiz competition. At the end of the event, Prizes were distributed among the participants. Besides local communities, number of key stakeholders were invited for the celebration of World Water Day including local government representative, Education Managers from Government Education Department, district administration and other humanitarian organization working in District Shangla.

LASOONA organized Stakeholder's consultation meeting on climate change and disaster risk reduction issues at swat. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of stakeholders on key DRR and Climate change issues, its impacts on food and nutrition security so that they could consider the adaptation and mitigation in their plans. A total of 110 participants attended the event which includes, District Nazim Shangla district, tehsil Nazim , Tehsil Nazim district Swat, tehsil Nazim Shangla district, Director metrological department of Pakistan, Director Metrological department KP, Professor Climate change department agriculture university , representatives of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Livestock, forest, soil conservation, Environment and Disaster Management Unit of Swat , Shangla and Kohistan Districts, representative of CBO's, print and electronic media and LASOONA and WHH staff. Dr. Muhammad Hanif-Director Metrological department of Pakistan and Dr. Inamullah agriculture university Peshawar, delivered expert speeches on the global and country scenario of the climate change and presented some facts and analysis. Dr. Saifullah Khan also presented a report on Climate Chanage and Disaster Risks in Swat, Shangla, and Kohistan which is compiled with the support of LASOONA and Welthungerhilfe. The District Nazim Shangla who was the chief guest of the event highlighted the challenges and opportunities related to Climate Change. He extended full support of the district government and said that under the current local government system there is a complete setup from village to district level which could be used to raise awareness related to the issues of deforestation, DRR and climate changes.

Women continue to contribute to social, economic, cultural and political achievement. LASOONA: Society for Human and Natural Resource Development has celebrated the International Women's Day on March 8, 2016 in LASOONA Head Office in which all staff, senior management, project and support staff have participated with enthusiasms. The event was candled by each of the staff member with versing the theme Pledging For Parity, Objective of the day and history/back ground was shared with colleagues, followed by proper celebration with cake cutting.
