Play On, Philly! WELCOME TO THE D’ADDARIO FOUNDATION ANNUAL GIVING REPORT 2017

When you are energized by what you do, what is to come and how you will accomplish your goals, it is slightly inconvenient to have to stop for a moment and reflect on the past. In each of the last three years, the focus, urgency and exuberance for the outcomes of our work has propelled us forward at lightning speed to ensure we don’t lose momentum. The purpose of this report is to codify the D’Addario Foundation’s work in 2017 which helps to frame our story and ultimately build excitement for what is to come. So for a moment we take pride in looking back. One of the things I would like to highlight in this report is the D’Addario Foundation board. In the first quarter board meeting, I expressed my gratitude towards our board members who happen to be brilliant, dynamic, accomplished, and compassionate people. In the not-for-profit world we do so much by the proverbial skin of our teeth utilizing as little resources as possible and wearing many hats. We are a full-time staff of two people. Without our board of directors, many of the doors that have opened to us would still be closed today. They quite simply are critical to fulfilling our mission. This organization is truly in magnificent hands with a vision towards improving lives through We are so grateful for the existence of the D’Addario music in innovative and effective ways. “Foundation and their mission to provide and support My appreciation for my board and advisors extends to our circle of supporters as well. It is of the utmost music education worldwide. Hamilton Music Collective MISSION STATEMENT The D’Addario Foundation is a unique non-profit grant-making organization providing monetary and product support to high-quality sustainable music instruction programs on the front line to improve access to music education. We support programs that bring music back into communities and schools and get kids playing as early and as frequently as possible. The D’Addario Foundation believes in the transformative power of music and that mentoring and building communities through music can positively affect social change.

OVERVIEW At the D’Addario Foundation we are aware of the power of music, and we are harnessing it by nurturing the development of private- sector non-profit music education programs in schools and communities where music barely exists or does not exist at all. These programs are unique catalysts for positive social change, proving to have the power to lift human aspirations, elevate quality of life, and strengthen communities. And, it’s all through music.
