Scooby-Doo and the Gang are investigating a monstrous mystery! A valuable Egyptian exhibit, along with priceless gold and jewels, has been stolen from the local museum. A Ghost, a Headless Horseman, and a Black Knight MYSTERY, have all been spotted in the area. The police have found the sarcophagus in the woods, so the gang is investigating the mysterious mansion nearby to look for the stolen gold! MANSION! HERE ARE THE CLUES THEY FOUND: CLUE 1 The police found the sarcophagus surrounded by a swamp. The area was unreachable by anyone on foot. CLUE 2 While investigating in the woods, Shaggy tripped over a novel by Washington Irving that had a missing cover. CLUE 3 Velma found small white seeds on the ground near the mansion. CLUE 4 Daphne discovered these footprints near the mansion:

7965-12-13-usso-r_Scooby 1 15-07-2015 15:10:10 “ I’ve cracked this case! Read below to see how I solved the mystery using the clues we found!”

When the police first discovered the missing Egyptian exhibit abandoned in the woods, I had a hunch that the criminal was really after the gold and jewels hidden inside the sarcophagus and wasn’t just an ancient Egyptian history buff. Also, because the swamp was impossible to cross on foot, that meant we were searching for someone who wasn’t just walking around! While on our way to the mysterious mansion in the nearby woods, Shaggy stumbled across a book that the criminal accidentally dropped. The author, Washington Irving, is well-known for his most famous short story: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The small white seeds I found near the mansion turned out to be pumpkin seeds, and the footprints Daphne discovered were actually hoof prints! Both of these clues confirmed my hunch: someone masquerading as the Headless Horseman had stolen the Egyptian exhibit! After stealing the gold and jewels inside, the Headless Horseman left the sarcophagus in the middle of the woods and took off on horseback to the mansion. The only mystery left to solve was where the Headless Horseman had hidden the loot! I deduced that he hid them inside the potted plants in the conservatory. Because gold is so heavy, it made the some of the pots sink into the ground, while the rest of the pots that didn’t have gold hidden inside were fine. Case closed!
