General Carter F. Ham, U.S. Army, Retired

General Ham is the president and chief executive officer of the Association of the Army. He is an experienced leader who has led at every level from platoon to geographic combatant command. He is also a member of a very small group of Army senior leaders who have risen from private to four-star general.

General Ham served as an enlisted infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division before attending John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. Graduating in 1976 as a distinguished military graduate, his service has taken him to Italy, , Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Macedonia, Qatar, and, uniquely among Army leaders, to over 40 African countries in addition to a number of diverse assignments within the United States.

He commanded the First Infantry Division, the legendary Big Red One, before assuming duties as director for operations on the Joint Staff at where he oversaw all global operations. His first four-star command was as commanding general, U.S. Army . Then in 2011, he became just the second commander of United States Africa Command where he led all U.S. military activities on the African continent ranging from combat operations in Libya to hostage rescue operations in Somalia as well as training and security assistance activities across 54 complex and diverse African nations.

General Ham retired in June of 2013 after nearly 38 years of service. Immediately prior to joining the staff at AUSA, he served as the chairman of the National Commission on the Future of the Army, an eight-member panel tasked by the Congress with making recommendations on the size, force structure and capabilities of the Total Army.

Lieutenant General James H. Dickinson assumed command of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command and Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense on Jan. 5, 2017. Commissioned in 1985 as a Second Lieutenant, he has held leadership positions, from platoon leader to Commanding General of an Army Air and Missile Defense Command.

He most recently served as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He was previously assigned as the Director for Test at the Missile Defense Agency, Redstone Arsenal, and as Deputy to The Inspector General in the Office of the Secretary of the Army.

LTG Dickinson was the Commanding General of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bliss, Texas, from July 2012 to March 2014, and Commanding General of the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, from August 2011 to July 2012.

Additional command assignments include: Commander, 1st Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery, 32nd Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas, where the battalion deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom; and Commander, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Eighth United States Army, Republic of Korea.

GENERAL ROBERT B. BROWN COMMANDING GENERAL, UNITED STATES ARMY PACIFIC

General Robert B. Brown assumed command of the United States Army's largest Service Component command, U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), April 30, 2016. The command is headquartered at Fort Shafter, Hawaii with portions of the command-forward deployed and based throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific. USARPAC's 106,000 Active, Reserve Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians support the nation's strategic objectives and commitment to the region. Prior to this assumption of command, General Brown most recently served as the Commanding General, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he led the synchronization of education; leader development; training support & development; and the development and integration of the doctrine the U.S. Army uses to fight and win our Nation's wars.

Major General Gary Brito, a native of Hyannis, Massachusetts, was commissioned an Infantry Officer through Penn State University and entered active duty in March 1987. He currently serves as the Commanding General, Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) and Fort Benning, and most recently served as the Commanding General, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and Fort Polk. Previous assignments include Deputy Commanding General for Sustainment, then later Operations, 25th Infantry Division; Director, Force 2025 and Beyond, US Army Capabilities and Integration Center (ARCIC), Training and Doctrine and Command (TRADOC); and Operations Officer (G3) for III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas. In that capacity, he deployed and served as the Deputy Director, National Security Forces (ANSF) Development, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command in Kabul, Afghanistan. Throughout his career, MG Brito has served in a variety of command and staff assignments to include Commander, 120th Infantry Brigade, First Army; Commander, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3d Brigade, 3d Infantry Division; Operations Officer (S3), 2d Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment; and later as the Brigade Operations Officer (S3), 2d Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. Richard P. Formica Lieutenant General (USA-Ret.) Vice President, Strategic Accounts – Calibre

Lieutenant General Richard P. Formica, US Army, Retired, connects defense and other government clients’ needs to CALIBRE capabilities; contributes to the development and implementation of CALIBRE’s corporate strategic plan and market assessments; orchestrates and directs implementation of CALIBRE’s space and missile defense business plan; supports the company’s regional business development efforts; and provides leadership and oversight to CALIBRE’s force management and leader development service offerings. He represents CALIBRE in various government and business forums.

General Formica joined CALIBRE in June 2014 after 36 years of service in the U.S. Army. He is a career field artillery/fire support officer with experience in leadership, operations, and training. He has senior executive level experience in force management and space and missile defense. He served as the Commanding General, Combined Security Assistance Command – Afghanistan; Joint Fires and Effects Coordinator/Force Field Artillery Commander in Multi-National Corps – Iraq; Deputy Director Political – Military Affairs (NATO/Europe) on the Joint Staff; and as the Director of Force Management for the U.S. Army. His final assignment was as the Commanding General, U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command and U.S. Strategic Command’s Joint Functional Component Command for Integrated Missile Defense.

General Formica received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island; a Master’s Degree in Military Arts and Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; and a Master’s Degree in National Strategic Studies from the National War College. Brigadier General Clement S. Coward, Jr. is the Commanding General of 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command, he is the former Deputy Director for Force Protection (DDFP) on the Joint Staff J-8 as well as the former Director, Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization (JIAMDO), and the former Director of the Joint Requirements Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JROCBRND).

General Coward was born in Colon, Panama. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and entered active duty in 1989. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the Army war College.

Mr. Thomas Karako

Thomas Karako is a senior fellow with the International Security Program and the director of the Missile Defense Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), where he arrived in 2014 as a fellow with the Project on Nuclear Issues. His research focuses on national security, U.S. nuclear forces, missile defense, and public law. He is also an assistant professor of political science and director of the Center for the Study of American Democracy at Kenyon College, where he arrived in 2009. For 2010–2011, he was selected to be an American Political Science Association Congressional Fellow, during which time he worked with the professional staff of the House Armed Services Committee on U.S. strategic forces policy, nonproliferation, and NATO.

Karako received his Ph.D. in politics and policy from Claremont Graduate University and his B.A. from the University of Dallas. He previously taught national security policy, American government, and constitutional law at Claremont McKenna College and California State University, San Bernardino. He has also written on executive-congressional relations, the thought of Niccolo Machiavelli, and international executive agreements.

A native of Florida, COL Holler graduated from the University of North Florida in 1992 as a ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate and was commissioned into the Air Defense Artillery Corps. His military education includes the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advanced Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), US Army Jumpmaster Course, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Air Command and Staff Course, and the Army War College (Distinguished Graduate). Upon graduation from the Infantry Officer Advanced Course in 1996, COL Holler was assigned to Fort Bragg and served as an Air Defense Fire Coordination Officer in the 1st Battlefield Coordination Detachment, and then as an Assistant S3 and Battery Commander in 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division. Following command, he served as an Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk Louisiana from 1999 to 2001. COL Holler returned to Fort Bragg in 2001 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2002, serving as a CJ3 Battle Captain for CJTF-180. In 2003 COL Holler deployed to Kuwait and Iraq where he served as an Army Liaison Officer to the 1st Marine Division during the initial invasion and early occupation phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). After graduating from the Air Command and Staff College in 2005, COL Holler returned to Fort Bragg where he served as the XVIII Airborne Corps G3 Chief of Operations, and then as the Battalion S3 for the 82nd Airborne Division Special Troops Battalion. In 2007 he deployed to Afghanistan and served as a Brigade Task Force S3 in Regional Command – East. COL Holler then served as the Brigade S3 and Deputy Commanding Officer, 108th ADA Brigade at Fort Bragg from 2008 to 2010. While stationed at Fort Hood from July 2010 to June 2013, COL Holler commanded 1st Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery and served as the Deputy Commanding Officer, 69th ADA Brigade, deploying twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following graduation from the US Army War College in 2014, COL Holler was assigned as the ACoS, G3 for the 32d Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bliss, TX. He then served as Commander, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade in Korea from June 2015 to June 2017. Director, International Battle Management Missile Defense and Protective Systems Northrop Grumman Mission Systems

William L. Lamb is the director for the International Battle Management operating unit in the Missile Defense and Protective Systems (MDPS) division within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. MDPS provides integrated air, space and missile defense and command and control solutions to the Missile Defense Agency, the US Air Force and the U.S. Army for the national security of the United States and its allies. Mr. Darryl Colvin is the Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management (DASM), Program Executive Office (PEO) Missiles and Space, Redstone Arsenal, Al. In this capacity he is the senior advisor, and assists the Program Executive Officer and the Deputy by providing expert technical and professional counsel and recommendations in acquisition matters. Mr. Colvin joined the PEO Missiles and Space team in September 2015.

Prior to this position, Mr. Colvin was the Ground-based Midcourse Defense Interceptor Project Manager. He was responsible for developing, fielding, integrating, and sustaining Ground Based Interceptors to defend the United States against intermediate and long-range ballistic missile attacks. From December 2008 through July 2013, Mr. Colvin served as Project Manager for the Lower Tier Project Office and was responsible for leading the PATRIOT, PATRIOT Advanced Capability-3, Missile Segment Enhancement, Joint Tactical Ground Station, and the US Medium Extended Air Defense System programs.

Mr. Colvin served as the Operations and Integration Officer for the Army Tactical Operations Center Product Office, where he provided strategic planning and direction for Unit Set Fielding and command post standardization across the United States Army. Mr. Colvin was the Army Centrally Selected Product Manager for Field Artillery Launchers, to include the Multiple Launch Rocket System M270/M20A1 launchers and the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, both Major Defense Acquisition Programs. Mr. Colvin retired as an Army Lieutenant Colonel in January 2006 after faithfully and proudly serving 20 years active duty to the nation.

Mr. Colvin has more than 24 years of professional experience in all aspects of Program Management, Contracting, Financial Management, and Foreign Military Sales for Army ACAT IC/ID programs as well as teaching experience at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. While at USMA, Mr. Colvin served as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering where he taught Mechanical and Weapon Systems Design for 3 years and “graduated” with Class of 1997.
