Like any counterinsurgency, units like the task force don’t recognize civilians. Everyone is a potential combatant. They are the reason residents have said they feel both “overpoliced and underserved” by the police. When residents call for help, no one comes. When residents try to walk to the store or the bus stop, they are as afraid of the police as they are of criminals...

GunNews Magazine - 15 - June 2019 Freedom’s Forum Over and Under It Exclusive to GunNews. by GSL’s Monty Mittleman | MontysMonsters.com

We should welcome all to our cause! Gun owners and a big tent by Thomas Kral (Gun Rights 4 Illinois) - I have a message for you today. That message is simple. Gun owners need to be more accepting.

What do I mean when I say this? We all know the stereotype about gun owners: gun owners are straight, white, male, and Republicans. There’s even a abbreviation in use online: OFWG. Old, fat white guys.

I know this doesn’t stereotype doesn’t apply to all gun owners. But that’s how many perceive it. In the real world, gun owners aren’t all OFWGs.

To some degree this stereotype gets perpetuated by gun owners ourselves. Some- times we fail to remember the exploding numbers of women joining the ranks of gun owners. The same for people of color. Ditto for others, such as the LGBTQ+ com- munity. And yes, even those who might have voted for Democrats in the last election or three.

Instead of welcoming these demographic groups, sometimes the OFWGs tend to eat our own. Instead of celebrating our common belief in gun rights, how often do we attack a fellow gun owner on issues unrelated to our right to keep and bear arms? How quick are we to beat anyone over the head who doesn’t agree with us on all of our beliefs?

In America, we all have the right to keep and bear arms. This is our right. It does not just belong to those in the Right, or the Left in politics today. It doesn’t belong to the straights and not gays. Or the religious vs. the agnostics.

Gun ownership is our right, our right granted to us by creation, then acknowledge and documented by our founding fathers. Our right.

For as long as we gun owners choose argue and bicker about our differences, we shall never be able to stand united on our similarity. A house divided cannot stand.

Thanks to near-bottomless funding, our opposition remains very well organized. Our opposition doesn’t argue about issues on the sidelines. Our opposition is unified in their civilian disarmament agenda, and is unified in their fight against us. How can we win the fight against our attacker if we are distracted by fighting among ourselves? GunNews Magazine There is something you should know about me.
