TOUGH TESTS SPANGLE THE 2016 SCHEDULE The Aggies will play 11 teams that participated in the 2015 NCAA Championship for a total of 25 games, including Arkansas (3), Auburn (3), Florida (3), LSU (3), Ole Miss (3), Pepperdine (3), Vanderbilt (3), Houston, Houston Baptist, Rice and Texas. The Aggies will play seven SEC series against teams that played in the 2015 NCAA Championship, including College World Series participants Arkansas, Florida, LSU and Vanderbilt. Four of A&M’s opponents hosted a regional in 2015. YALE • MARCH 4-6, 2016 CLOSING NOTES The Aggies return three pitchers who logged five or more saves in 2015, including MARK ECKER, RYAN HENDRIX and ANDREW VINSON. Ecker and Hendrix were both named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Preseason Watch List. Ecker led the Aggies with eight saves in 2015, posting a 1-2 record with a 2.45 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 33.0 innings. Hendrix went 6-4 with five saves, a 3.66 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 59.0 innings. Out of the bullpen, Hendrix went 5-2 with a 0.73 ERA and a .194 opponent batting average. Vinson was 5-2 with five saves and 64 strikeouts in 63.2 innings last season. “Vinny” logged a 4-1 record with a 2.04 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 53.0 innings of relief as a junior. For his career he has seven saves and ranks fourth on A&M’s career list with 86 appearances. SHUTOUT NOTES With the back-to-back shutouts at Pepperdine on Feb. 27 & 28, the Aggies recorded consecutive shutouts for the first time since February 2006. It also marked the first time A&M recorded consecutive shutouts away from Olsen Field since the Coral Gables Regional in May of 1995. The Aggies have four shutouts through nine games for just the second time in school history with the only other occasion coming in 1907, which is before people made sounds in the motion pictures. OFFENSIVE NOTES The Aggies are outscoring opponents 11-0 in the first inning. Texas A&M is outscoring opponents 51-6 after the third inning. The Aggies have scored first in eight of the nine games this season. Texas A&M has two players hitting .400 or better, including BOOMER WHITE (.436) and J.B. MOSS (.414). They have boast two more players hitting over .380, including HUNTER MELTON (.395) and NICK CHORUBY (.385). BOOMER WHITE has reached base in all nine games on the season and enters the weekend with a six-game hit streak. NICK CHORUBY, J.B. MOSS and BOOMER WHITE all enter the weekend with six-game hit streaks. BOOMER WHITE has a streak of three consecutive games with three hits. He is batting .563 (9-for-16) over the span. BASES LOADED Texas A&M is pouncing on bases-loaded situations with a .529 on-base percentage and .462 batting average with the bags full of Ags. Texas A&M is 6-for-13 with two walks, one HBP, two doubles, one home run and 11 RBI in the situations. RONNIE GIDEON is hitting .667 (2-for-3) with one double, one home run and seven RBI with the bases loaded. PITCHERS WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION The Texas A&M pitchers are holding the opposition to a .174 batting average with runners in scoring position. They have struck out 27 of the 74 batters they faced with runners in scoring position. TYLER IVY is holding foes to a .125 (1-for-8) batting average with four strikeouts in RISP situations.
