The 2010-2011 fiscal year witnessed the completion of numerous capital projects. The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) provided $5.4 million to fund the facilities master plan, install a secondary electric system in Fort Schuyler, complete phase one of the steam distribution replacement project, rehabilitate elevators throughout the campus, and relocate the Admissions Building from its former East River location to the campus entry where it was renovated and expanded. The building now hosts a new campus Welcome Center as well as the Admissions Office. Construction began on a wide-range of multi-year projects totaling over $71.5 million and include the new academic building, laboratory upgrades in the Science & Engineering building and renovations to Riesenberg Gymnasium and Vander Clute Hall’s dining facilities. Construction continued at the pier and waterfront, and the new phases of the following projects were implemented: steam distribution replacement, landscape enhancement, lighting and stone-paver sidewalks. Additionally, the campus security system and various HVAC systems throughout the campus were upgraded. Funding was provided by The State University Construction Fund. The SUNY Maritime College facilities department is to be commended for its outstanding management and successful execution of the facilities master plan. The dynamic impact of their collective efforts is abundantly evident in every area of the campus. Going forward, the College will expend $5.7 million to complete additional aspects of the facilities master plan - several already in the design phase - which include a new facilities warehouse, roof replacements, phase one of an emergency generation system, and construction of a new Seamanship Center at the pier.

Through a politically and ethnically sensitive process, Ms. Constantinou developed programs for the Greek and Turkish Cypriot library communities to explore areas of mutual collaboration and understanding. In addition, she worked with the U.S. Department of State to have two librarians – each from a Turkish or Greek Cypriot University - travel to the United States to explore library practices at SUNY, Cornell and Columbia Universities. The Fulbright Scholar Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is the U.S. government’s flagship international exchange program. Capital improvements are administered through the State University Construction Fund. Grants are facilitated through the Research Foundation of SUNY and philanthropic donations are administered by the University at Buffalo Foundation. Financial Condition The following is a four-year analysis of Maritime’s revenue, receivables, residence hall operations and income fund reimbursables. The analysis of this data is key to understanding the fundamental financial components of the College.

Maritime College Budget In 2010-2011, SUNY Maritime College sustained a $1.6 million budget cut as part of an overall $439 million budget cut to the State University. While tuition revenue increased for 2010-2011 ($9,283,200) due to increased student enrollment, overall operational expenses exceeded income.
