Canada Snowboard and Association Québec Snowboard are proud to host the 2016 Sports Experts Speed Nation; a national championship that gathers the rising stars in speed disciplines from across the country. From March 21st to 26th, athletes will compete against the clock and their opponents on the slopes of the Ski Chantecler resort at the heart of the Laurentian mountain range, in the province of .

The 2015 Sports Experts SPEED NATION - Alpine & SBX Nationals will take place north of , in the province of Quebec. Located in Sainte-Adèle, in the heart of the Laurentian area, Ski Chantecler is the perfect family destination.

Participants taking part in the PGS & PSL will challenge themselves on the Alexandre Despatie slope, one well known in the region for its steepness! The Snowboard Cross competitions will take place on a unique course, built especially for the event by some of the top Canadian course builders.

In order to register and compete, participants must be member of their provincial or territorial Associa- tion, have a valid FIS licence and SAIP Insurance. (FIS Licence & SAIP insurance aren’t required for U15, Para and Amateur Alpine events). You can purchase your Advance competitor membership online on Canada Snowboard’s website

On-Line Registration for this event closes on March 20th at 3:00pm EST. On site registration will be pos- sible at 3pm EST at the latest, 48 hours before the race.

Fees Registration includes lift tickets for competitions and official training as well as a banquet invitation. (non transferable). To benefit from early bird rates, athletes must register prior to February 15th at 3:00pm EST.

Coaches All Canadian coaches at events must register and meet the Canadian Minimum Coach Certification Stan- dards. Please register for the event at www.speednation.ca and ensure you fully understand the certifica- tion requirements by reviewing the policy.

International ATHLETES International athletes can register at www.speednation.ca. In order to confirm your registration, the Event Organizers need to receive written confirmation from your National Snowboard Association (FIS Form) that you are in good standing, prior to your arrival at the event. The confirmation letter can be submitted by e-mail to: [email protected]. Spots not paid by March 20th, 2016 will be released.

Sanction Canada Snowboard, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the International Ski Federation (FIS) sanctioned the 2016 Sports Experts Speed Nation. The U15 and amateur alpine competitions are sanctioned by the Association Québec Snowboard.

Rules and regulation Participants can register under three different age categories: Senior: 15 years old and over on December 31st 2015 Junior: 15 - 19 years old on December 31st 2015 U15: 13 and 14 years old on December 31st 2015

Certified helmets are mandatory for everyone on course (coaches, officials and athletes) and during all training and competitions. The 2016 Sports Experts Speed Nation will be organized and run in accordance with the FIS international snowboard competition rules. The FIS points system will be used for all calcula- tions during the event and all results will be posted accordingly.

ALPINE QUOTAS There are no quotas for this year’s Junior Alpine National Championships. Canada Snowboard is strongly recommending participating in Provincial Series in order to develop and follow the natural flow of the athlete pathway and use the support of their Provincial and Territorial association.

SNOWBOARD CROSS QUOTAS Each province and territory has an allocated quota of athlete spots for each discipline. Athletes can only qualify through their Provincial or Territorial Associations (PTSA). Please talk to your PTSA to learn more. lift tickets Discounted lift tickets will be available for athletes and coaches. Lift tickets are included in athlete’s reg- istration fees for competition days and official training (SBX). Registered coaches meeting the national requirements will get free lift tickets for competition days and official trainig. Tickets will be available at the event office.

Prizing There will be a grand total of $5,000 in cash and prizes for grabs in prizing that will be distributed amongst the categories.

Event Office The Event office will be located in the Bistro Bar of the Ski Chantecler resort. Athletes can check in or visit us for any inquiries from Monday March 21st to Saturday March 26th from 8:30am to 4:00pm. Event office will also be open on Sunday March 20th from 1pm to 4pm.

Team captain s meeting Each Provincial and Territorial Association (PTSA) must provide at least one Team Captain to represent their team of athletes at the competition and at the TC Meetings. It is up to each team to ensure that the appropriate officials attend the scheduled meetings according to the official schedule. One part of the Team Captain’s role is to ensure that all of their athletes are on the Registration List. The Team Captain is also required to pick up their team’s bibs after the bib draw and check the bib numbers for accuracy before leaving the meeting. volunteers

Volunteers and Officials are vital to the success of this event. We highly value the time volunteers donate to the event and aim to provide a fun, community experience for everyone who joins the team. Volun- teers will be provided with a lunch and lift tickets on working days.
