** The Ferris men's basketball team registered a 10-19 overall record in 2007-08 and was 5-13 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action under head coach Bill Sall. The Bulldogs previously advanced to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament in both 2004-05 and 2005-06. FSU captured back-to-back GLIAC North Division titles in 2003-04 and 2004-05 along with advancing to the NCAA-II Sweet Sixteen during the 2004-05 season.

** Ferris State capped off a banner 2004-05 season under Bill Sall with a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament (March 12-15) held in Findlay, Ohio. FSU reached the regional championship game for only the third time in school history. The Bulldogs concluded the 2004-05 season with a 24-7 overall record and fell one game shy of advancing to the NCAA-II Elite Eight for the second time ever. FSU's 24 victories rep- resented the third-most seasonal wins in school history.

** Seventh-year FSU head coach Bill Sall, who served for four seasons (1998-2002) as the assistant men’s basketball coach at GLIAC-member Hillsdale (Mich.) College, previously was the top assistant coach at Ferris State for three seasons (1995-98) and spent part of the 1995-96 campaign as the Bulldogs’ interim head coach. In his brief tenure, Ferris recorded a 5-8 start under Sall before finishing the year with a 6-20 overall record.

** Ferris State’s impressive basketball tradition includes 11 GLIAC titles, eight NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and a berth in the 1988 NCAA- II Elite Eight. Ferris, which last won the GLIAC Tournament championship during the 1997-98 campaign, captured a league record four consecutive con- ference titles from 1986-90. FSU has won more GLIAC Championships (11) than any other league member.

** The Bulldogs had posted only a 21-82 (.204) mark in the four seasons prior to Bill Sall's arrival, but have since went 87-86 (.503) and claimed two divi- sional titles while making two NCAA-II Tournament appearances in his six seasons at the helm. FSU won only four games (4-22) the year before Sall arrived in 2001-02.

** Ferris returns eight letterwinners from last campaign. Among the players lost from last season was two-sport athlete C.J. Van Wieren, who earned four basketball letters and was the starting quarterback in 2007 for the Bulldog football team.

** This year’s Bulldog roster includes three seniors, four juniors, six sophomores and three freshmen. Included in the total are seven newcomers. Last year, Ferris featured one of the nation’s youngest teams with nine freshmen on the roster during the season. FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY

The Oilers, who missed out on winning their seventh straight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division title, advanced to the finals of the GLIAC Tour- nament and reached the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament before having their season cut short by Grand Valley State University.

This season, the Oilers will welcome all five starters back as well as a host of players who earned valuable playing time last season. They return 75.8 points of their 78.7 points per game averaged last year.

The group will be led by senior forward Josh Bostic who was a first team all-American last year. In addition to being named first team all-Great Lakes Region and first team all-GLIAC, Bostic was voted to the all-tournament teams for both the GLIAC and Great Lakes Region tournaments after averaging 13.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

For his career, Bostic has appeared in 91 games while making 86 starts. He has also scored 1,037 career points heading into his senior season which ranks 35th all-time at UF. 2008-09 GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY MEN’S BASKETBALL GENERAL COACHING STAFF Name of School Grand Valley State Head Coach Ric Wesley City/Zip Allendale, MI 49401 Record at GVSU/Years 110-20/Fifth Year Founded 1960 Career Record/Years 110-20/Fifth Year Enrollment 23,892 Basketball Office Phone (616) 331-3205 Nickname Lakers E-mail Address [email protected] School Colors Blue, Black and White Assistant Coaches Jeff Bauer Affiliation NCAA Division II Joe Modderman Arena GVSU Fieldhouse Arena Dewayne Evans Capacity 4,100 Conference Great Lakes Intercollegiate TEAM INFORMATION President Thomas J. The Tiffin University Men’s Basketball team will count on last year’s experience and a deep roster as they enter their first season of competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Confer- ence. The Dragons finished the 2007-08 season with a 3-24 overall record, but gained valuable experience against some of the best teams in the nation. “We struggled a bit last year, but it gave us an opportunity to see where we are in comparison to the rest of the conference,” said third-year Head Coach Rodney Martin. The young Dragons return seven players from last year’s squad, and will feature an expected starting lineup that reflects the youth of the team. Junior sharpshooter Alex Strok returns as one of the starting guards for the Dragons after averaging a team-high 14.8 ppg and shooting 32% from three- point range. Junior forward Darryl Stinson will return after an injury-plagued 2007 season saw him appear in only eight games. Completing the Dragons’ starting lineup will be a trio of sophomores from last year’s team, point guard Brian Scott (11.2 ppg, 3.1 apg), guard Darryle Miller (5.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg), and forward Rafael Cuellar (10.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg). “These guys got a year of experience against GLIAC teams last year that will definitely help us and have us better prepared for them this season,” said Coach Martin. “Consistency from these guys will be important to our success.” Also returning for the Dragons will be sophomore forward Ryan Webb, who averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds last season while starting eighteen games, and junior guard Josh Diaz, a highly regarded defender and hustler for the Dragons. Five newcomers will provide an added dimension to this youthful team that features no seniors and only three juniors with experience under Coach Martin. Junior transfers Donnell Patterson (Guard, Schoolcraft Junior College) and Ryan Prunty (Center, Ferrum College) will bring their own college experience to the Dragons, while incoming freshmen Alan Bradford (Point Guard, Detroit Cody H.S.), Anton Shoetan (Guard, Riverdale Baptist H.S.), and Angelo Mason (Center, Detroit Finney H.S.) will provide additional depth off the bench for the Dragons. “We’re a young team, and obviously we have to work together and become a cohesive unit for us to have success,” said Coach Martin, “but we’re deeper than we’ve been in the past, and that will help us as we figure out just how good we can be.”
