MESSENGER/JANUARY 1985 5 Estelle Ceja was raised as an only child in a devout Catholic home. Life was full of joy until after her marriage and the birth of a son. Her husband died when Michael was only three. Estelle experienced a loneliness her religion couldn't fill. She began attending dances and later studied with Jehovah's Witnesses. One day, while flipping her television dial, Faith For Today caught her attention. The program portrayed people in life situations much like hers. They seemed to find answers in the Bible and Christian fellowship. In time she requested the Bible correspondence course offered on the program. She plunged into the studies ener- getically. Many of her questions were answered. False ideas about God and His kingdom began to change. She wrote her instructor to ask for a personal visit. Faith Adventist Television Caring Enough to Share

Associate Mary Virgo of Peru, IL, was assigned her name. Mary was much more than a spiritual counselor to Estelle: she became her friend. The two ladies' spiritual pilgrimages were much the same. Three years before Mary had found her own religious background lacked the depth she desired. She had many questions about God and the future. She tried different churches but none seemed to have the answers she sought. Then one day she and her son, while changing the television channels, happened upon It Is Written.

Even though we are secluded here our island still groans for the end of the world. Our establishment here consists of two buildings; one the school building which has an office, two I apartments and four classrooms. The other building is the house of our principal, pastor and his family. We are very cramped for space and our classes run on a tight schedule. About 170 students attend our school in grades kindergarten through eight. We operate on a split session because we only have four class- rooms and have eight classes. The first four classes come to school in the morning from eight o'clock to twelve o'clock, and the rest come from twelve-thirty until five-thirty. There is a nerve-racking bustling of children all day long. This coming summer our mission will be granted a share in the ingathering money to build an addition of the required five other classrooms. 16 MESSENGER/JANUARY 1985 Adventist World Radio I.W. Wilson, President, Canadian Union Conference

T SOME POINT IN TIME, everyone of us has fervently wished that we could participate in a really great challenge A for the Church. Let me whet your appetite! As you are well aware, each time a General Conference Session comes, some major project is proposed as a very "special event." In recognition of the 1985 General Conference Session, an amazing project has been chosen. That project is the establishment of an SDA Radio Broadcast Station on the island of Guam. Now, what makes that so amazing? Simply this — when operational, that one new broadcast centre will be able to reach almost 21/2 billion people on what is called the Pacific Rim with the good news of the second coming of Jesus. What a project! If you really want to strike a great blow for the Lord's work, here is your chance. For in recognition of this General Conference Session, the entire world field will combine their total effort in providing the 5 million dollars required to construct the station. This gospel penetration will encompass the Far East, communist areas, Australia, and other areas. Two offering dates have been reserved in 1985. They are March 9 and May 25. If you really wish to strike a giant blow for the Lord's work, here is your chance. It is recommended that each member provide an amount equal to one week's tithe, or if you prefer a strong faith objective, then one week's salary is suggested. Even now, with the existing facilities, Adventist Radio broadcasts 65 hours a week in 24 different languages, in such areas as Gabon, Sri Lanka, Portugal and Guatemala receive in excess of 20,000 letters per year. So, let's flex our financial muscles, no matter how strong they may be, and lay big plans for the new radio station on the Island of Guam.
