QUESTIONS

1. MR. P. K. MOTAOSANE, MP. (-): To ask the Minister (158) of Transport and Communications if he is aware that - road through Mahetlwe was once planned for; if so, to update this Honourable House on the current status of this road or any alternative plans to ensure that people are able to access services in Lentsweletau which services eight (8) more villages.

2. MR. C. GREEFF, MP. (GABORONE BONNINGTON SOUTH): To ask the Minister (159) of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development to update this Honourable House on the current state of the Gaborone West Youth Centre (Mma Masire).

3. MR. M. M. PULE, MP. (MOCHUDI EAST): To ask the Minister of Transport (170) and Communications if he is aware:

(i) that roads connecting villages especially in the Mochudi East Constituency are in a very bad state and barely get attention in terms of grading especially Mochudi/Malolwane to Phala Kamp roads, Modipane-Mabalane, Mokatse-Radikolo, Dikwididi to Sedibelo and Bokaa to roads;

(ii) that Modipane/Mabalane Road has been in the National Development Plan for decades; if so, to consider including it as a matter of urgency in the planning period 2020/21 and not 21/22 as was announced by the previous Minister in a Kgotla meeting at the main Mochudi Kgotla on 10 October 2019; and to further state;

(iii) what he is doing about the situation as road transport is currently the major way the country can grow tourism, farming, and entrepreneurships therefore creating jobs for Batswana.

4. MR. M. I. MOSWAANE, MP. (FRANCISTOWN WEST): To ask the Minister of (155) Transport and Communications to state:

(i) how many Aircraft Accident Investigators are employed in his Ministry and under which Department;

(ii) their qualifications and how they qualified for such positions;

(iii) the number of Aircraft Accident Investigators registered and recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana; and

(iv) what the Ministry is doing to try and entice more young people into this scarce field.

5. MR. Y. BOKO, MP. (MAHALAPYE EAST): To ask the Minister for Presidential (178) Affairs, Governance and Public Administration when oversight institutions will be removed from Office of the President such as:

(i) Directorate of Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC);

(ii) Ombudsman;

(iii) Directorate of Public Prosecutions;

(iv) Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA); and Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) to give them independence for enhancement of democracy and their institutional effectiveness.

6. MR. T. S. KHAMA, MP. (SEROWE WEST): To ask the Minister of Transport (179) and Communications to update this Honourable House on the period of Air Botswana turbulence and increased losses; whether there have been any salary increases for the General Manager (GM) and members of the Executive Committee (exco) and if so, to state:

(i) by how much, and what other benefits they have enjoyed;

(ii) what post the GM is pegged at and the salary;

(iii) how many Directors there are at Air Botswana to oversee the operation of the three aircrafts; and how many people are employed for their operation;

(iv) the monthly remuneration package for all Air Botswana Directors; and

(v) if he will confirm the announcement made by Air Botswana on job cuts for two hundred (200) staff members and if presumably there will be similar cuts for the Exco Directors so as to set an example.

7. MR. M. I. MOSWAANE, MP. (FRANCISTOWN WEST): To ask the Minister of (189) Local Government and Rural Development to state:

(i) why the Centre for people living with disabilities building behind Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Training still remains unoccupied to date;

(ii) how long the building has stayed unoccupied;

(iii) how much was spent on its construction; and

(iv) what the City of Francistown intends to do with the building as it has stayed for too long without a tenant.
