Consensus All-Americans Harris and Vandersloot Headline the 2010-2011 National All-Jesuit Women’S Basketball Team CONSENSUS ALL-AMERICANS HARRIS AND VANDERSLOOT HEADLINE THE 2010-2011 NATIONAL ALL-JESUIT WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM April 8, 2011 Courtney Vandersloot, who capped off a record-breaking season by leading Gonzaga to the NCAA Elite Eight, and Am- ber Harris, who paced a Xavier team that was ranked in the top ten all season, highlight the 2010-2011 National All- Jesuit Basketball Team, as announced by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight today. Vandersloot (Sr., G, 5-8), the first player in NCAA history with 2,000 career points and 1,000 career assists, and Harris (R -Sr., F, 6-5) are two of six WBCA/State Farm All-Americans on the 10-player squad. The others are Ta’Shia Phillips (Xavier, Sr., C, 6-6); Sugar Rodgers (Georgetown, So., G, 5-11); Carolyn Swords (Boston College, Sr., C, 6-6); and Angel Robinson (Marquette, Sr., G, 5-8). Rounding out the All-Jesuit team are Division III All-American Lee Jennings (John Carroll, Sr., G/F, 5-6); Keiva Council (Loyola New Orleans, Jr., G, 5-8); Kayla Standish (Gonzaga, Jr., F, 6-2); and Lena Gipson (Santa Clara, R-Sr., F/C, 6-0). All 10 players earned first-team all-conference honors and eight received All-America honors. Six of the eight players who received honorable-mention status also received first-team all-conference accolades. The All-Jesuit Team represents student-athletes from the 28 Jesuit colleges spread across the United States that play basketball on all three levels of the NCAA and also in the NAIA. They share the mission of Jesuit education, founded nearly 500 years ago under the principles of St. Ignatius Loyola to educate young people to become men and women dedicated to service and compassionate leadership. Named to the All- WCC first team…. Ranked seventh in the nation in rebounding and 14th in the country with 17 double-doubles, including 10 of her last 12 games…. Amber Harris – Xavier (R-Sr., F, 6-5, Indianapolis, IN) Selected to the WBCA/State Farm Coaches’ and USBWA All-America teams, the Associated Press All-America second team, and the WBCA All-Region I team, while also being named a finalist for the Wooden Award and Wade Trophy…. Honored as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year for the second straight season…. Led the Musketeers with 18.7 points and 2.3 blocks per game and was second on the team with a 10.2 rebounding average…. Av- eraged 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks…. Finished second in the na- tion in rebounding, second in the country in double-doubles (22), and third in field-goal percentage (.605)…. Set the Xavier school record with 1,552 career rebounds…. Named National Jesuit Player of the Week twice (January 10-16 and March 1-13) and was part of the Jesuit Honor Roll twice. Angel Robinson – Marquette (Sr., G, 5-8, St. Paul, MN) Earned a spot on the WBCA/State Farm All-Region1 first team and was an hon- orable-mention selection on the WBCA All-America squad…. Named to the All- Big East first team after leading the Golden Eagles to a 20-win season and an NCAA berth…. Displayed an all-around game, averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 re- bounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.4 steals per game…. Named to the Jesuit Honor Roll twice during the season. Sugar Rodgers – Georgetown (So., G, 5-11, Suffolk, VA) Selected to the WBCA/State Farm All-America team as an honorable-mention member and picked to the WBCA All-Region 1 first team…. Kayla Standish – Gonzaga (Jr., F, 6-2, Ellensburg, WA) Played a key role in Gonzaga’s memorable season, scoring 17.1 points per game, second on the team, pulling down a team-leading 8.4 rebounds, and blocking 1.6 shots, another team high…. Named to the All-WCC first team and also the WCC All-Tournament team…. Scored 30 points in each of the Bulldogs’ first- and second-round NCAA Tournament games, the first time in school his- tory that a player scored 30 in back-to-back games…. Made 56 percent of her Page 4 field-goal attempts, the 12th-best percentage in the country…. Awarded a spot on the Jesuit Honor Roll five times. Honored as a first-team All-ACC pick for the second straight season…. Led the Eagles to a 20-win season and a WNIT bid by averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds…. Made an amazing 71.4 percent of her shots, the best mark in the nation by more than five percent, and had 16 double-doubles, which was the 16th best in the country…. Scored 2,029 career points (second in school his- tory) and set school records with 1,159 rebounds and 178 blocks…. Named Na- tional Jesuit Player of the Week once (January 31-February 6) and earned a spot on the Jesuit Honor Roll four times.
