Signed : Date : August 2020 ii Universitas Sumatera Utara ABSTRAK Kertas karya ini berjudul “A Description of Moral Values in Josh Groban‟s Selected Songs”. Tujuan dalam penulisan kertas karya ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan nilai- nilai moral dalam kehidupan yang digambarkan dalam lirik lagu Josh Groban. Dalam penulisan kertas karya ini, metode yang digunakan adalah Deskriptif Analisis. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah lagu Josh Groban yang terdiri dari tujuh lagu yang berjudul: You Raise Me Up, To Where You Are, You’re Still You, February Song, Granted, You’ll Never Walk Alone dan You Are Loved. Teknik yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan data ini yaitu dengan melakukan beberapa langkah, antara lain dengan membaca empat lirik lagu Josh Groban dan mendeskripsikan jenis nilai moral dalam lirik lagu yang terpilih dari Josh Groban. Setelah mendeskripsikan nilai moral yang terdapat pada lagu-lagu tersebut, penulis menemukan beberapa nilai moral yaitu: kepercayaan, kesetiaan, cinta dan kasih sayang, kejujuran, keberanian, pengorbanan pada orang lain, dan keyakinan pada diri sendiri. Kata kunci: Nilai Moral, Lirik Lagu, Josh Groban iii Universitas Sumatera Utara ABSTRACT This paper entitled “A Description of Moral Values in Josh Groban‟s Selected Songs”. The aims in this paper is to describes the moral values in life that portrayed in Josh Groban‟s selected song. The method used in this paper is descriptive qualitative method. The data source of this paper are Josh Groban‟s selected song entitled You Raise Me Up, To Where You Are, You’re Still You, February Song, Granted, You’ll Never Walk Alone dan You Are Loved. The technique used to describe the data by reading four lyrics Josh Groban‟s song, understanding the contents of Josh Groban‟s song lyrics, and describe kinds of moral values in Josh Groban‟s selected song lyrics. After describing the moral values in these songs, the writer found several moral values in Josh Groban‟s selected song, there are: strong belief, loyalty, love and affection, honesty, bravery, sacrifing for other and self confidence.
