The trio’s next album is set for a Sept. 25, 2007 release. By the way, just in case you haven’t been keeping up with the Pop charts, the Flatts’ “What Hurts The Most” is No. 4 on this week’s Mediabase AC chart. The former No. 1 AC hit – which of course spent four weeks at No. 1 on top of the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart – actually grew from No. 5 to No. 4 with a bullet in this, its 49th week on the AC chart! More On Music’s Post VT Role The Wilkinsons’ song “Nobody Died” has struck a poignant chord with radio listeners following the Virginia Tech tragedy. Written by Tony Hazelton after the Columbine tragedy and recorded by the Canadian trio for an RCA/Nashville album that was never released, the song was re-recorded by the band following the Amish school tragedy last October. Featured on their new album Home, the song’s video was shot as planned two days after the Tech massacre and carries an anti-bullying message. The syndicated Moby in the Morning show played it every day last week to tremendous response, and the song has been the subject of a few newspaper articles as well. Dear Patrons, Welcome back to live events at the Bologna Performing Arts Center! We are excited to have artists returning to our stage, and look forward to inviting you to attend shows again. Things will be a little different this spring and summer. Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, we are going to put each show on sale individually, about 4-6 weeks before each event. This allows us to make sure we are following the most recent executive orders, including audience capacity guidelines. Please refer to the on-sale dates for each artist in this brochure. Seating has been reduced for our Spring/Summer Series, and is being sold in staggered pairs and groups. We ask that you purchase all of the seats in the grouping to ensure that patrons are comfortable being seated together. All of our staff and volunteers will also wear masks, and do daily temperature checks and symptom monitoring. We ask you to please monitor your own health, and stay home if you do not feel well. We have also increased our cleaning and sanitation regimens. We have invested in new cleaning systems to ensure that the theater is totally sanitized prior to every performance. Study Guide For Teachers The Doo -Wah Riders In Country Coast to Coast Presented by: Young Audiences (866) 500-9265 www.yanj.org www.yaep.org ABOUT THE PROGRAM For twenty years, the Doo-Wah Riders have been riding their own patch of the musical range throughout the west. The Doo-Wahs are an amazing band with a unique, original sound using guitars, fiddles, harmonica, accordion and of course, their voices! They define their sound as "high energy country with a cajun twist". Their tight musicianship and powerful arrangements of classic and original songs have made them favorites everywhere they go! BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS Country Music has its origins in the folk music of Great Britain and Ireland. The music changed and grew in America because of the influence of music brought from other parts of Europe, Latin America and Africa. Country Music moved from the farm to modern America due to radio. Artists became professionals, but the simple harmonies and themes of writing about working people has never changed. In the 1950’s country Music started to become strongly influenced by cross over artists like Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Today, Country Music is being strongly influenced by pop music. VOCABULARY WORDS Cajun music The music of Louisiana. Strongly influenced by the local French descendants. The predominant instruments of Cajun music are the fiddle and the accordion. Country music An American musical style with roots in the South. It is also strongly influenced by Western cowboy music and folk music. Most of the instrumentation country music is in string instruments such as banjos, guitars and violin, and a non-string instrument such as the harmonica.

  • Brian Wilson's Spacious Estate in West Suburban St
May 24, 1998---- The backyard of Brian Wilson's spacious estate in west suburban St. Charles overlooks a calm pond. A playground set stands near the water. Wilson slowly walks out of the basement studio in the home he shares with wife Melinda and daughters Daria, 2, and Delanie, 6 months old. Wilson squints into the midday sun. He looks at a playground slide. Then he looks at a swing set. Wilson elects to sit down on the saddle swing. In a life of storied ups and downs, Wilson's career is on the upswing. The June release of ``Imagination'' (Giant Records) is a return to 1966's ``Pet Sounds'' in terms of orchestration and instrumentation, with its the ambitious patterns of tympanies and snare drums. But equally important are Wilson's vocals, which are the smoothest and most soulful since 1970's ``Sunflower.'' Wilson, 55, has suddenly defied age. Mick Jagger and Pete Townshend are brittle rock 'n' roll barnacles. Ray Davies and Paul McCartney have matured gracefully. Yet here's Wilson singing with effervescent hope on ``Dream Angel,'' which he co-wrote with his co-producer Joe Thomas and Jim Peterik of Survivor and Ides of March fame. The song was inspired by Wilson's new daughters. They make him happy. He says that is why he is writing happy music. On ``Dream Angel,'' Wilson even returned to the tight, late '50s harmonies of the Dell Vikings (``Come Go With Me'') and the Four Freshmen - happy-go-lucky voices that influenced the Beach Boys when they were young.

Bama Breeze Jimmy’s latest CD is scheduled to be released on October 10. Award winning bassist Glenn Worf, Mobile native Will Kimbrough, Little Feats’ Billy Payne, and Party At The End Of The World slide guitar master Sonny Landreth joined Jimmy and the resident Coral Weather With You Reefers in Key West last February at what was then the Party At The End Of The World. We knew better than to refer to it as such so early, but it Everybody's On The Phone was a working title. In between fishing and boating trips, and sampling the Whoop De Doo keys culinary offerings, “should I spend time on the treadmill or eat at Hogfish,” Jimmy and his talented troop started the “party” that ended as Nothin' But A Breeze “weather” in Mac McAnally’s studio in Muscle Shoals. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis All the talent trapped in the old ice house on Key West’s historic waterfront Reggabilly Hill set the substance for the new recording, and the style was added by Mac and Mr. Utley. Meanwhile, Jimmy was overseas watching World Cup soccer and Elvis Presley Blues hanging with Mark Knopfler – not exactly dire straits. A video was filmed last Hula Girl At Heart summer for the song “Bama Breeze” and Jimmy told the Boston Globe’s Steve Morse, “It's a tribute to those honky-tonks that line the Gulf Coast where Wheel Inside The Wheel I grew up on the Alabama, Mississippi, Florida coast of the Gulf. It's about Silver Wings the infamous Flora-Bama bar.
