14th PEAK PARK PRESERVED BUS GATHERING at the South Station,

Sunday 16th June 2019

With the start of the New Year the calendar of rallies for 2019 is already filling with events throughout the country, and we are pleased to reserve our usual place on the third Sunday in June for our ever popular event. We are delighted at the many compliments we receive each year, demonstrated by the number of ‘regulars’, and we look forward to offering a warm welcome to you and your bus as either a newcomer or as an old friend.

Our hosts, the Peak Rail heritage railway, include our event as an important day in their calendar and we are grateful for the warm welcome they offer each year. The excellent facilities of their Rowsley South Station contribute to everyone’s enjoyment and a bonus is to ride on their steam and diesel hauled trains which connect at all three stations with our frequent preserved bus services. Our network of services is always popular with the many visitors to Rowsley and we will again be running to Bakewell, Matlock and Darley Dale Station. Because of problems with the logistics of operating to , this run will be replaced for 2019 by extending every alternate journey on the Bakewell service to the Chatsworth Farm Shop, Edensor Cuttings (which is a short walk to Chatsworth) and the Peak Brewery.

Last year we made mention of the Society who are re-creating part of the former Ashover narrow gauge line at the Rowsley site. At our 2018 event they were demonstrating their progress to date by offering rides on their small electric locomotive, and they look forward to telling you more of their work here during the past year.

We would be delighted if you can take part with your preserved bus. The space available allows for a maximum of 65 buses on site and, as always, we will keep our special atmosphere by admitting only preserved buses and those still in service as part of a heritage fleet (but NOT new or standard service vehicles). Buses that have been fully restored are invited to be entered for judging by a distinguished panel of experts from local bus operators. A large grass area is available for sales stalls and a separate entry form is available for stall holders without a bus.

Your bus is also most welcome to join in the preserved bus services which will operate between 11.30 am and 4.00 pm from the station platform entrance. We will express our gratitude to those buses taking part in these runs on the day by presenting a small “thank you” gift.

We do hope that you, your bus and your friends will enjoy our event. To enter your vehicle, simply complete and return the attached form, or this year you can enter your bus on-line by filling in the new digital entry form on our website at www.peakparkrally.wordpress.com/enter

We look forward to seeing you in June.
