Organizations Alpha Sigma Tau

Important Dates: May 1 : Recruitment Registration Opens ($35) August 18: Move In Day August 21: First Day of Classes August 21: Recruitment Registration Fee Increase ($40) August 25: Fraternity/Sorority Recruitment Information Session (5:00pm – Tanner Hall Circle Lounge) This program is hosted by our governing councils and will provide students with information regarding how to register and navigate the recruitment/intake processes of our organizations. August 30: Activities Fair (3:00-5:00pm) This program, hosted by the Office of Student Activities, provides students with the opportunity to meet with representative from the over 250 student organizations on campus. This includes our fraternities and sororities. August 31: Fraternity/Sorority Fair (5:00-7:00pm – University Union Grand Ballroom) This program, similar to the Activities Fair, just includes our fraternity and sorority members. Chapters will have members eager to meet with interested students to talk about their organizations. August 31: Recruitment Registration Fee Increase ($45) September 5: Panhellenic Preview (6:00-9:00pm – University Union Heritage Rooms) This relaxed event will allow potential members the opportunity to meet our Rho Gamma team and chapter members to please life sized games, have casual conversation, and to get to know each other prior to the recruitment process. Causally interact with other potential new members and get a feel for what part of Panhellenic Sorority Life looks and feels like. September 6: Recruitment Registration closes at 11:59pm September 7: Potential New Member Orientation (7:30-9:00pm – University Union Heritage Room) Women who have registered for recruitment will have the opportunity to meet with their Rho Gamma Team, hear about what the recruitment process will look like, and have a brief fashion show of what to wear throughout the recruitment weekend.

Recruitment Weekend Information September 8: Recruitment Round 1 Check In: 3:00-3:45pm – University Union Grand Ballroom (Illinois Room) Women registered for recruitment will have the opportunity to meet with all six of our organizations and learn more about the chapter and the women of the organization. Each rotation will last approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted all in the University Union.

September 9: Recruitment Round 2 Check In: 12:30-1:30pm – University Union Grand Ballroom (Illinois Room) Women can be invited back to visit with up to 4 different organizations. Each woman will be provided with a unique schedule and will be expected to maximize her options by visiting with all of the chapters that have invited her for round 2. Women will dig deeper into each of the organizations she visits and will learn more specifically about the organization’s national philanthropic partner. Women will visit with the chapters for approximately 45 minutes. This round will be conducted in chapter facilities and women will be transported from the union to the chapter facility for each round.

September 10: Recruitment Preference Round Check In: 8:15-8:45am – University Union Grand Ballroom (Illinois Room) This is the culminating round of the recruitment process. Women can be invited back to visit up to different organizations. Each woman will be provided with a unique schedule and will be expected to maximize her options by visiting all of the chapters that have invited her for round 2. Organizations will share a ritualistic ceremony with potential members to better understand the meaning behind their organization. Women will visit with the chapters for approximately one hour. This round will be conducted in chapter facilities and women will be transported from the union to the chapter facility for each round.

September 10: Bid Day Check In: 5:00-5:45pm – University Union Brattain Lounge Women who have completed the recruitment process and have maximized their options throughout the process will have the opportunity to join one of our six organizations. Women will receive their bid and decide whether or not to accept it. Those that choose to accept will meet with representatives from their organization and receive their bid day tee shirt. Once all bid have been distributed, new members of each organization will be revealed to the Panhellenic community and guests on Hanson Field.
