by Lili ZHANG, Lianmeng WEI & Ding YANG

Abstract Disease Prevention and Control, Guizhou, Guizhou, and Entomological Museum of China Agricultural Two species of Hercostomus, from longicercus-group and baishanzuensis-group respectively, are described as new to science University (CAU), Beijing. Several synonyms are from China: Hercostomus hainanensis sp. nov., Hercostomus confirmed under the help of Dr. 0. P. Negrobov by dashahensis sp. nov. New synonyms are proposed and new examining the types deposited in St.-Petersburg. combinations are made in the present paper. The following abbreviations are used: acr-acrostichal, ad-anterodorsal, apv-apicoventral, av-anteroventral, dc Key words: Diptera, Dolichopodidae, Hercostomus, China, new species, new synonyms. dorsocentral, LI-fore leg, LII-mid leg, LIII-hind leg, pd-postdorsal, pv-posteroventral, v-ventral.

Introduction Taxonomic account Hercostomus LoEw, 1857, is a cosmopolitan genus of the subfamily . The 470 species are The Hercostomus longicercus- group included in the catalogue by YANG eta!. (2006). In the past decade, the research of Oriental Hercostomus is DIAGNOSis: Postocular bristles wholly black. Antenna greatly promoted, especially in the China part by WEI black. Cercus slender and strip-like, usually longer than (1995, 2005-2007) and YANG eta!. (1995-2007). The epandrium. number of Hercostomus from other realms remained stable in the recent years except African Hercostomus Hercostomus hainanensis sp. nov. increased from 21 species to 48 species (GRICHANOV, (Figs 1-4) 1999, 2004).
