New Pupils: Welcome to Mikah (Rm 1) and Eli (Rm 3) who started with us this week.

E Awards: The focus for the next two weeks is “ Enterprise – Being willing to take on new challenges”.

The whakatauki for the new Enterprise focus is “Ko te pae tawhiti whaia kia tata, ko te pae tata whakamaua kia tina – Seek out distant horisons, and cherish those you attain.”

School Chess Team: On Monday nine pupils represented our school at the Interschool Chess Competition in Christchurch. All players played seven games each.

Congratulations to our intermediate team, Zephryn, Jacob, Oliver, William and Joshua who played in with the senior teams for this event and came 4th overall out of 7 high schools. There were 34 players.

Special congratulations to William who gained 3rd place individually in the intermediate division - which means he has also qualified for the NZ national championship tournament in October to be held in Hamilton.

The Junior primary team, Cooper, Alex, Angus and Baxter came 5th out of the Junior Schools. Some of them had only just started playing chess, so it was a great effort from them.

Thank you to Simon Bretherton, Fiona Fulton and Alan Hinman for their transport to the event and supervision during the day.

Scent-Co Fundraiser: A page went home last week with an order form to purchase scented pencils or pens. We will be using funds from this fundraiser to purchase Blown Up books for shared reading.

Please ignore the date at the top of the page. We would like to send any orders away by the 9th June so they can be here by the end of this term. Please return section 3 of this form to the school with your payment by the 9th June if you would like to place an order. Thank you Judi Tallott.
