TITABAR SUB-DIVISION AT A GLANCE Titabar Sub-Division is the only Civil Sub-Subdivisions of District. This Titabar Sub- Division was created on 11th January 2002. It comprises of two Revenue Circles namely Titabar and Mariani and seven Tehsils (Mauzas) ( 1). Titabar (2) -Kharikatia (3) Borholla (4) Thengal (5) Kakodunga (6) Nakachari (7) Katoni.. The Sub-Division is bounded by Naga Hills on the South , Kakodunga river on the west , Teok river on the East, Soikota river on the North .The Headquarter of Titabar Civil Sub-division is Titabar which is at a distance of 22 km from District Head Quarter .There are two major roads from Sub-Divisional Headquarter to District Headquarter ,one is Gar Ali and other is Na–Ali .The historical Dhodar ali; a road constructed during the Ahom king Godadhar Singha runs through Titabar town and links it with and . Titabar Railway station is in the heart of the town and the airport (Rowriah) is at a distance of 25 KM. All the rural areas of the Sub-Division are connected with the town by motorable roads . Titabar sub-division has mixed population of the Hindus, Islams, Christians and the Buddhists. People of all religions and sections live peacefully .They believe in peaceful co-existence and communal harmony . The economy of Titabar Sub-Division is based on agriculture .The major agricultural product of the Sub-Division is paddy .Titabar is the granary of rice. It is exported in great quantity to other parts of the state as well as to the neighbouring state of Nagaland and . Establishment of rice research experimental station at Titabar has increased production of rice to a large extent in the entire region. Along with Rice experimental station there is a Sericulture Training Institute and Research Station at Titabar Town. Most of the women of Titabar Sub-Division are good weavers. They produce Eri ,Muga and Silk clothes which are a good earning source to many of them. Forty three, big and medium sized Tea gardens have contributed to the economy of Titabar. The literacy rate of the Titabar sub-Division is 79.55 %(Male 84.32% and female 74.78%).For pursuing higher education there are three colleges and nine Higher secondary schools in Titabar Civil Sub-Division . For imparting medical and health facilities to all, there is first referral unit at Titabar town along with public health centres and State dispensaries in the nook and corner of the Sub-Division . Titabar Sub-Division is proud of a sanctuary which is the habitation of a rare kind of monkey (called Gibbon). The Buddhist temple at Balijan Shyam gaon a tribal village located at a distance of 12km from Titabar town established in the 18th century and visited by the invader Burmese general in the early part of nineteenth century beacons all and is a glory of Titabar. TELECOMMUNICATION CONNECTIVITY:- Apart from BSNL landlines phones, there are Cellone (BSNL), Airtel, Reliance Jio, Vodafone networks etc in almost all parts of the district.
