CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Company New Mexico Fresh Foods, LLC is a young, fast-growing social enterprise headquartered in Albuquerque, NM and is dedicated to growing local food economy by increasing local producer access to food manufacturing technology and services. NMFF manufactures and distributes Verde Juice and other beverage and ready-to-eat products. It will also be the first HPP tolling facility in New Mexico, providing shelf-lengthening technology to food manufacturers across the State. The new 20,000 sf refrigerated facility will be operational in February, 2021. This is a great opportunity to grow with a well-positioned company. The company is majority woman- owned and operated.

Job Overview The Chief Operating Officer (COO) position will lead, direct, and implement strategic initiatives to achieve the company’s immediate and long-term objectives across multiple functional areas to include: Manufacturing, HPP Tolling, Quality, Maintenance & Facilities and Safety & Distribution. We are looking for looking for an inspirational leader, who is shares our commitment to sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a winning spirit to “roll up their sleeves” as needed to support the evolving needs of this rapidly growing business. Open-minded and willing to try new things, the COO must also have a focus on driving performance through continuous improvement, innovation, and high-impact business results. This position will report directly to the CEO and work closely with all functional areas of the company.

Job Duties:

• Partner with the CEO to coordinate the operational planning process throughout the Company, gaining active participation of key members of . • Responsible for end to end supply chain, manufacturing, facilities management, and cost improvement. • Develop and sustain an environment of continuous improvement, optimizing schedule adherence, refining operational efficiency, and increasing profitability and productivity. • Build, train, sustain and motivate an operations team capable of achieving all productivity targets and output requirements to service customers with product on time, in full and right first time. • Establish clear plant goals and objectives in alignment with corporate strategies and business initiatives. • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations and policies. • Maintain compliance with State & Federal environmental regulations. • Guarantee plant operates safely and in compliance with OSHA and regulatory mandates. • Ensure plant is operated in compliance with all environmental regulatory standards. • Identification, development, and execution of cost savings / productivity projects. • Collaborate with of Finance and the evolving inventory/ team on management of purchases, to include materials, supplies, and utilities. • Foster a positive, motivated work environment. • Ensure that operations meet the company’s sustainability goals and social enterprise mission to grow the local food economy through increased access to food processing technology like HPP.

• At least 8 years proven success operating production facilities and 5 years of management experience. • Bachelor’s degree in , Logistics, Engineering or another industry-related field. • Good Listening Skills; Public speaking abilities to communicate with both hourly and salaried personnel. • Experience assessing vendors that meet quality, price and delivery specifications • Decision making ability; Multi-tasking; Must have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker). • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills in dealing with those both internal and external to the company are critical to success. Listens and gets clarification • Certifications and/or high proficiency in HACCP, PCQI, SQF, OSHA and other regulations. • Experience with basic in-house lab testing for safety compliance • Knowledge of DOT regulations, labor relations, selecting/interviewing/recruiting. • Demonstrated competency in Demand Planning and Scheduling, ERP manufacturing processes and machine interface tools. • Good working knowledge of relevant safety and quality polices • Strong business acumen and skills, well versed in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement • Strong aptitude and laser focus on budgeting, cost control, and cost savings. • Understands the position purpose and responsibilities and has a good understanding of how Planning, Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing and Food Safety and Quality functions interact and impact each other. • Orderly and organized, conscientious, analytical, committed to high standards of excellence, precise, self-disciplined, process-oriented • Results-oriented; focused on completion of tasks, projects and programs; thinker, self-controlled; self- starter, proactive • Experience in product development and innovation a big plus. • Experience in food / beverage / packaging manufacturing a big plus. • Bilingual in English and Spanish, both written and verbal a big plus.

Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing ready-to-eat refrigerated products. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve living of raw materials, finished cases of product or bags of refuse. You will be required to wear face masks, observe hygiene and social distancing policies and wear safety glasses during sanitation. The work environments is cold and requires standing and walking during the full shift.
