Something different. Many of the country members said they’d come to meet- ings if they weren’t always in Sydney so in an attempt to please some different folk the October meeting is pro- posed for Cootamundra. Why Coota!? Cause it’s within about 4 hours or so of a lot of places. (Yes I know if you live in the north it’s 4 hours by helicopter but you can only please some of the people some of the time. If this one works there could be more). The meeting will be at a venue yet to be chosen but on Saturday 30th October. I hope the meeting is dry (almost) but will arrange for it to degenerate into the most popular event surveyed, a pub run. The Coota Council is on the case and have sug- gested meeting at the RSL then several pubs, motels and camping options within walking distance of each other. Full details will be in next months newsletter. Why not this month? ‘Cause I haven’t been home for four days and I’m typing this in the cold half of Wozza’s shed wearing more gear than I would on a midnight to dawn ride. The warm, air conditioned side of Wozza’s shed is now number two son’s love shack and the computer and I have been punted in favour of his girlfriend/s.

6 More on the ZigZag train ride

From: Graeme Hind Subject: Re: ZZR Ride Sunday 12th September Meeting: BP @ Nth Richmond ready to leave at 9.30am

Warren, Sorry it’s taken me a week or 2 to reply. You don’t have to worry about the train being full, there is always room somewhere on board. Also on that day, there is a diesel railmotor running as well as the steam. The time table is Departures from Clarence Returns to Clarence at 0940 Railmotor------1135. 1100 Steam------1230. 1140 Railmotor------1335. 1300 Steam------1430. 1340 Railmotor------1535. 1500 Steam------1630

You could go down on the 1100 steam, hop off at the picnic spot, then flag down the 1300 steam trip. That would give you 2 hours at the picnic spot. Or you could come back on the 1140 railmotor service. the down side to that is you miss the uphill slog behind the steam. The other thing you could do if you didn’t want the 2 hours at the BBQ spot is to go down on the 1140 railmo- tor and back on the 1300 steam. That would give you 1hour and twenty minutes at the picnic spot. Let me know what you’re going to during the week before and I word up the drivers for you. I won’t be there that weekend, but I will word up the steam driver to give a couple of people a cab ride. See the attached images. 2 are of my R100 when it was Dead horses brand spanking new in 1984. But in modern business (and education and Lumpy government and churches), because heavy investment

factors are taken into consideration, other strategies are often tried with dead horses, including the following: 1. Buying a stronger whip.

2. Changing riders. 3. Threatening the horse with termination. 4. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

5. Arranging to visit other sites to see how they ride dead horses. 6. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included. 7. Reclassifying the dead horse as "living-impaired." 8. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse. 9. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed. 10. Providing additional funding and/or training to in- crease the dead horse's performance. 11. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance. 12. Declaring that the dead horse carries lower over- head and therefore contributes more to the bottom line than some other horses. 13. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses. 14. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position. 7 Its getting seriously hot now, but we still go for full-face THE SPOT WHERE FOREST helmets and jackets. It’s not long before the red rock spires and mesas start to appear out of the flat desert. We have all seen this scen- ery a dozen times on old western movies, but it is abso- lutely fantastic to see it in real life! After crossing a long flat valley the road rises up a bit and there are great views back south. We stop for some photos at what we later realise is the spot where Forest Gump stops run- ning. While stopped, about 30 Harley dudes cruise through in a group with a backup truck. They are dressed just like every other Harley dude we see – no helmet, bandanna, tee-shirt & leather vest. We later learn that it is a Dutch group who have paid $30,000 for their badass dream trip.

The BMW Touring Club of NSW was founded in 1965, with an initial membership of 15 and we celebrated our 35th anniversary in October 2000. The aim of the club is to provide a social medium for BMW riders and motorcycle touring. It is not necessary for you to own a BMW motorcycle to join the club. There are a wide range of activities throughout the year, ranging from regular day rides, rallies (local, interstate and other BMW club rallies), runs with interstate BMW clubs and camping weekends. We have gained a large number of trophies from our attendance at rallies. The club also has regular maintenance days (where you can tap into a vast range of knowledge from our members). We have spare parts available at a slight discount for members and a variety of special tools for use when servicing, repairing or replacing components. We also have social evenings, an annual presentation night/dinner and a Christmas party. The club encourages family involvement in all events.
