QUEENSLAND AIRPORTS EXPANDS TO MATCH GROWTH

Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) has reported continued growth for the 2007 calendar year at its three airports: , Gold Coast and .

Highlights for each airport for 2007 include:

MOUNT ISA • Fuelled by the resources boom, experienced growth of 21.3% for 2007 over the 2006 calendar year. • The airport handled 181, 767 passengers in 2007. • Mount Isa is serviced by and Macair as well as Alliance charter flights and other charter operators servicing mining communities. • Qantas introduced double daily jet services in August between Mount Isa and three days a week.

GOLD COAST AIRPORT • Gold Coast Airport handled more than 3.9 million passengers in 2007. • Passenger numbers grew by 7.7% in 2007 over 2006 figures. • December 2007 was an all time record month with 374, 000 passengers using the airport. • Over the past five years, Gold Coast Airport has moved from being the 8th busiest to the 6 th busiest airport in Australia, based on passenger numbers. • New services from AirAsia X and Tiger Airways contributed to this growth.

TOWNSVILLE AIRPORT • More than 1,421,500 passengers used in 2007, up 6.3% on 2006 figures. • Growth in regional services, up 12% on 2006, was much stronger than overall growth. • Townsville Airport handled more than124, 000 passengers in December, up 10.8% on December 2006.

To accommodate this continued growth, a major expansion of terminal facilities at Gold Coast Airport will commence in mid 2008 and planning is Page 1 of 2 advanced for expansion of the Mount Isa terminal and continued upgrades for the terminal in Townsville.

“Overall, air traffic growth throughout Queensland has been strong,” said QAL Managing Director Dennis Chant.

“This growth has been fuelled primarily by the minerals boom and the increased availability of low cost seats,” Mr Chant said.

“The challenge at each of our airports is to expand our facilities to accommodate this growth at a time when the strong state economy is placing great demands on and increasing costs for our construction industries.”
