This Bibliography on Mental Retardation hasbeen developed to

provide special educators, supervisors of specialeducation, students,

and researchers with a comprehensive listingof the major references

in the area of the education of the mentally retarded. The Bulletin

has been divided into four separate sections: (l) Professional

Literature; (2) Professional Curriculum; (3) GeneralLiterature; and

(4) Historical Literature. The reader has also been provided witha

current listing of publishers.

The bibliography is not an exhaustive listing. An attempt has been made to include most of the majorand better-known references in

the field to date. The student will need to seek other referencesfor

journal and periodical reports of researchstudies in mental retarda- tion.

Supplementary addenda references will beprovided teachers periodically for insertion into thisbulletin. In addition, the
