The club was founded in 1976. There were four Committee members; Bill Coventry, Brian Mitchell, Val Clark and Terry Jeacock. In the first sea- son the club had two teams at U9 & U10 but by 1980 the club had 8 teams altogether. Initially, most players came from either Rayleigh Primary School or Grove Junior School and their respective pitches were used up to 1984. Trenders Avenue was also used in the early days and parents and managers used to help cut and mark the pitches. In 1982 Rayleigh Boys started playing at Fairview Park and Grove Park. Club presentations used to be held at Grove Junior School switching to the Mill Hall in 1982 where Trevor Brooking OBE presented the trophies on many occasions.

In 1995 Raylee FC was formed to give players an opportunity to play senior football. They currently have 5 teams playing at Fairview. In 1997, Mini Soccer was introduced and Rayleigh Boys were founder members of the South East Primary Mini Soccer League. At present the club has over 50 teams. To date the club has had great success on the playing side and with players going on to represent professional clubs. Neil Harris (now Manager at Millwall), Dean Gerken at Ipswich Town and Matthew Lockwood, who has over 500 appearances for various professional clubs, are just three good examples. The club continue to offer the opportunity for boys, girls and adults to play organised football with the emphasis being on fun and enjoyment.

Recent developments have included the new ground at the Chichester in Rawreth; the facilities being the envy of many local clubs; adult and veterans football; a dedicated development centre at King Georges Park, Rayleigh and the club being awarded FA Community Status year on year. Girls’ football is also being strongly developed at the club.

Please contact the club if you feel you could write a more detailed club history for our website and Wikipedia.

Many thanks, Rayleigh FC Club Committee Rayleigh FC Club Awards

The Chairman’s Trophy The Chairman’s trophy (a 14” Shield) was donated in 2007 by Martin Shields to the club in memory of his late father who was also called Martin. The winner each year is decided by the Chairman of the club and the decision is based on a person or persons who have contributed to the club or have achieved something exceptional for the club. A true unsung hero. The winner keeps the Shield for 1 year and it is engraved with their name. They also receive a small award to keep. 2008 Catherine Cooper 2009 Neil Kirsh 2010 Alan Webb 2011 Geoff Middleton & Richard Amoroso 2012 Rob Smith 2013 Chris Hockett 2014 Margaret Cook 2015 Under 13 Blue team 2016 Clare Rankin-Maclean 2017 Under 15 Green team 2018 Brian Mitchell M.B.E Brian Mitchell Trophy The trophy is in honour of Brian’s 25 + year’s service to Rayleigh Boys being a founder of the club. 2002 Dave Evans 2003 Colin Norfolk 2004 Alan Webb 2005 Stephen Roberts 2006 Adam Birch 2007 Andy Bubb 2008 Adele James 2009 Shane Bird 2010 Carl James 2011 Darren Deal 2012 Gavin Cornelius 2013 Andrew Ellis 2014 Penny Werry 2015 Paul Mitchell 2016 Carol Twydell 2017 Mark Hoskins 2018 kevin Compton

Val Clarke Trophy The Val Clark Trophy was first presented in 1986. It was donated to the club by Val on her retirement. Val was the first secretary to the club and one of the founding members in 1976. The Val Clark trophy is voted on by the committee and is presented to anyone within the club who we feel has stood out with there achievements be them grand or small. This could be anybody within the club no matter what their role is . They just have to be a supporter of Rayleigh FC. We would like for next year to award the trophy to somebody who was nominated by a fellow member of the club so if you have any suggestions please forward them to Clare for consideration. 1986 P. The end of last season saw Martin Shields the club chairman for 11 years step down. Having driven the club forward for many years and being instrumental in delivering the Chichester ground, he gave the club a place to call home. All at Rayleigh FC thank Martin, Karen and his family for the huge amount of time and effort that they put into the club over many years. As a Charter Standard club, we have to meet certain criteria. All coaches and club officials have to be DBS checked. Every team has to have at least one member of the coaching team FA qualified in Emergency First Aid and a minimum of a Level one coach. Thanks to Mike Werry and Louise Cummings for administering this, it can be a challenge! Meeting the conditions of Charter Standard is a commitment for your teams’ coaches so a huge thank you must also go to all the managers, and assistants who run teams. It is a labour of love. Training and matches are only a part of what is required in the running of a team. The 2018-19 season has been another successful year for Rayleigh Football Club, with 60 teams playing from u7’s to super veterans (they’re really old). That’s not to mention the numerous boys and girls training at King Georges Development Centre on a Saturday morning. These are teams yet to be formed under the watchful eye of Brian Mitchell MBE. A big thank you to the ever-youthful Rob Smith, Martin Shields (Junior) and Jack Harrington for coaching the youngsters who are the future of the club. We have teams playing at all levels of ability and encourage players to develop in a safe, happy environment to fulfil their potential. It’s important to recognise that winning isn’t everything and football should be fun. When teams do achieve success, it should be acknowledged. Congratulations to the following teams:

U18 Yellow Division A League winners U17 Greens winners U12 Kestrels Spring Plate winners U9 Panthers Divisional winners and cup winners U9 Ospreys president cup winners U8 Lions Cup winners Chairman’s Report

This season saw Chris Hockett the clubs’ groundsman reconfigure the Chichester, al- lowing us another two smaller sided pitches. Unfortunately, no matter how many pitches we have when we have a wet winter there is nothing we can do, and like virtually every ground in the area it became unplayable. The obvious answer would be to have a 4G As- troTurf pitch which Rayleigh doesn’t have currently. Hopefully we may have some news on this in the coming season! The Chichester has also benefitted from having the entrance to the car park concreted and a big thank you to Iain Folkes who resurfaced the car park, along with all those who attended the working party at Christmas, 26 hardy souls ready to work off the excesses of Christmas. The changing rooms have had a makeover and will be offered out to teams next season. Clare’s Cafe has been refurbished, so not only do you get service with a smile in a shiny new kitchen, but it now has a five-star hygiene rating. A big thank you goes to Susan O’Connell who gives hers Sunday’s to make sure you can get a bacon roll. Clare Rankin Maclean is not only a tea lady but also the club secretary. Along with Carol Twydell the mini soccer secretaryand Paul Mitchell the girl’s secretary, they are the peo- ple behind the scenes who do all of the paperwork, and there’s lots of it! Margaret Cook keeps control of the club’s finances, and as you can imagine with a club of our size it has a large revenue turn over. Thank you to all four of them for the time that they commit to the smooth running of our club. Rayleigh Football Club is currently administered by a committee of 20 volunteers. We do our best and are always looking for people to join the committee. Many hands make light work. If you can offer some time to help with the running of the club, please get in contact. We have a small social committee which organises various events through the season, the Race night at the Mill Hall, and the club’s tournament were successful events. The club mud run in April was very successful with over 500 participants, thank you to the organisers and those that supported these events. Thank you to parents/grandparents/carers and anyone else that helps get your child to training and matches, without your support we wouldn’t be the club we are. Finally, but most importantly thank you to all of the players of Rayleigh Football Club, boys and girls, young and not so young. Without you there would be no club. Good luck to all teams for next season. Rayleigh Boys Under 7 Tigers Manager: Sonny Young Assistant Manager: Dean Salmon

It has been a fantastic start to football for the boys and we have enjoyed every minute. The boys always play with a smile on their face and enjoy themselves. Sonny, Dean and John cannot speak highly enough of the boys and we would also like to thank all of the parents for being so supportive and cheering the boys on every week. Thankyou.

Our Tigers Wills – our superstar goalkeeper who has come on leaps and bounds this year. Always plays with a smile on his face and is never afraid to tackle the opposition and take them down with a wrestling move or two. Aaron – Our ACE, who loves nothing more than a crunching tackle to stop the opposition scoring. He has been our rock all over the pitch this year. Only one thing gets past Aaron. The ball or the player. Never both! Mikey – Our little terrier of the team. Mikey has grown so much in confidence this year and he is our drag back king. This skill has led to him setting up so many goals as well as finding the net on many occasions himself. Luca – Our king of assists. Luca has such quick feet that if you look at them long enough you will get dizzy. Always loves a turn and quick change of pace. His skills and vision has set the tigers on the way to lots of victories this season. Tommy – Our silky maestro. Tommy has feet so soft they must be made of silk. He effortlessly glides across the pitch at times and he can get himself out of the tightest situations by trying a clever turn and then he is off to set up another attack. Harry – Our Mr Versatile. Harry can be a superstar defender one minute, then dribbling down the wing the next minute and in the blink of an eye he is stopping the other team scoring with an award winning tackle. An all action footballer.

George - Our new goal scoring sensation. If there is a chance anywhere near the goal then George is the man you want it to fall to. A deadly eye for goal with a powerful shot. He has set us on the road to victory so many times this season.

Bobby – Our speedy wizard around the pitch. Bobby loves scoring an all-important winner or finding a killer pass to one of his teammates that sets up another goal. If we are in a tricky situation then Bobby will find a way out of it for us. We love you boys and couldn’t be more proud of you this year. GO TIGERS.

P16 W6 D1 L9 F30 A47 What an amazing first season that was! Like many in their first season, I was chosen to be Man- ager rather than applying for the role! Having not known the boys and girls for very long it was a difficult start, especially as none of the players had experience of playing a match on a pitch before! However they have all worked extremely hard and have demonstrated huge improve- ment throughout the season whilst always acting with the best behaviour on the pitch. After our first two games in which we lost 4-0 and 3-0 we were all wondering if we would get the elusive first goal. We didn’t have to wait too much longer, as our next game saw us secure a cracking 4-1 win against Great Wakering Tigers. This set us up to win 3 games on the spin only conceding 2 goals in this time, a great comeback from the kids. A step up in opposition followed which saw up and down results for the remainder of the season with plenty of goals at both ends of the pitch. And with the exception of a very cold and wet day away at Trinity, the kids have enjoyed every minute of the season with a smile on their face which is what our Pumas team is all about. Pumas Team 2018/2019 Ava Harris – Our ever dependable and amazing shot stopper who plays every game with a huge smile on her face Jack Kruse – A strong and enthusiastic defender who puts in 100% every week Abigail Willson – A formidable tackler whether in midfield or defence, the opposition don’t get past her Joshua Hill – Energetic midfielder who never gives up with a great right foot in his locker Finlay Darken – A true box to box midfielder with endless amounts of energy and a great finish Jayden Harper – Great on the ball, leaves defenders in a twist and has bagged himself a number of goals Joe Miller – Little speedy striker with goals to his name and bags of determination I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the players for their fantastic and happy attitude, my assistant for his guidance through this new experience and to all of the parents for their continued support throughout the year which made my job as easy as it could be. In addition I would also like to thank Vicky for her hard work with the finances, Steve for his social secretary role within the team and to all those on the Rayleigh Boys Committee for their assistance. Rayleigh Boys Under 7 Cougars Manager: Andrew Vince

The Cougars have been training since October 2018 and commenced league games from January 2019. The boys attained 6 wins in 9 games with a whopping 54 goals scored. To start the team lacked confidence in their ability and over the last few months their commitment and gritty determination has concluded with some fantastic results for us. The boys are playing some fantastic football with depth, foresight and their pass- ing up the line is exceptional. The boys have grown as a team and really are a lovely bunch of lads. A shout out to all the parents that have supported the team come rain or shine. Louis has never missed a training session or game, with his silky skills teamed with his powerful shots he always finds the back of the net. Ashton has gone from strength to strength he always manages to win the ball and carry it forward but also gets back to defend he is the ultimate all-rounder. Archie is a little rocket up front with an unbelievable work rate he is our top goal scorer this season and also makes some fantastic challenges. Ellis has amazing ability to read the game he is always positioned well and is an asset either up front or as a defender. Ethan holds the back line really well he always makes a challenge, wins the ball and does some epic up the line passes. Max has saved various penalties and conceded very little goals, over the season he has vastly improved and does excellent challenges when he comes off his line. The team, parents and management are all looking forward to some new challenges in the new season! Rayleigh Boys Under 8 Lions Manager: Rob Mason

Another season over and after a trying start what a successful finish! We started the season with 3 new players and I have got to say how amazing these boys have done coming into their first teams and fitting in with all the boys. They have all progressed really well and parents should be very proud of them. The first half of the season wasn’t the easiest. We were trying to find our feet as a team and although we held our own against most teams we struggled to get the run of luck that we deserved, often drawing or losing by one goal! Since Christmas however we have not lost a game and this has culminated in an amazing cup run which saw us lift the trophy as champions, eventually winning 4-2. This game definitely aged me by at least 10 years but it was an amazing experience. A few stand out moments included a reverse volley by Tyler (which would have been Goal of the season had it snuck in under the bar!!!), amazing goals by Brodie and great teamwork between the 2 Tommy’s to slot home a great goal. Michael had a mad scramble and somehow managed to keep the ball out of the goal and non stop battling by the whole team. Seeing the boys celebrate after the final whistle was brilliant and makes all the work throughout the season worth every minute. Looking forward to next season we are moving to 7 aside, which will bring new challenges, but I’m sure if you boys and parents keep supporting each other we can thrive in this new format. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team next season and boys I am very proud of you all well done. Rayleigh Boys Under 8 Tigers Manager: Steve Daly

The boys have performed excellently in their second season. We started the season with the same squad as last year, unfortunately we lost our goalkeeper 4 games into the season and ended up playing the rest of the season with only 6 players. This did not faze our boys though and they adapted very well and shared the load between them. The boys have de- veloped individually into much improved players which in turn has helped the team to grow. We are so proud of the work ethic of this team, the boys never give up and fight to the end with their Tiger like spirit! We started the season playing in the 3rd division. Our performances and results were very strong, and we were immediately promoted as Champions to the 2nd division at Christmas. Our results were outstanding, winning 10 of the 11 matches played including 1 draw. More impressive was the teamwork on show, some of the goals we were scoring were pure team goals. As coaches, these are the moments where you must take a step back and just ad- mire the understanding and relationships forming in front of your eyes on the pitch. After Christmas the matches were tougher, but the boys continued to excel. We were promoted into a league full of Lions teams but the boys more than held their own. Before every match we all form a circle as a group, put our hands in and on 3, shout Tigers! That is the team spirit we have created, it’s obvious from the performances that the boys play for each other and not as individuals. Over the course of the season we have played 24 matches, winning 17, drawing 3 and losing only 4. Overall our second season was a very successful one. The dynamic in the group will change but our team ethic will remain the same. A special mention must go to Lindsey D’arcy who looks after the finances for the team and to our sponsor, Pro Touch Car Valeting & Body Work Specialists, thanks again for your continued support. Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to our Tiger Army, we really couldn’t wish for a better group of parents & supporters. Well done boys! After playing friendly matches last year, this has been the Panthers’ first year of competitive football and they have adapted extremely well. Their passing, positioning and tackling have progressed exponentially over the course of the season which culminated with a three-game winning run over the Easter period. Special mentions go to Ricco, Miller and Finola for their no nonsense tackling in the heart of defence. Harry the cat, who is brave and athletic in goal. Alfie and Thomas for their excellent goals. Not forgetting Joe, Elli and Owen for their athleticism in midfield. Kriss has also been excellent in the friendly matches and will be a real strength to the team as we move forward to seven aside next season.

One last thanks go to Chris’ Taxi service for ensuring all members of the team arrive at matches and for refereeing the home games.

Here’s to next season.

Last season was a great season for the Pumas although it did not start that way . We lost our first 2 games and Lewis and I could see the boys heads were down . What we didn’t know at the time was that the 2 teams we lost to went on to finish first and second in our league at Christ- mas, and consequently went on to finish top of the next league at the end of April and will both get promoted again , so it wasn’t to much to get down about . We carried on working hard in training on our ethic of playing our passing game and kept reas- suring the boys that the results would come . What followed was a run of games that saw us go unbeaten in all competitions for 21 games I think that is a real achievement and showed great character , especially considering that 2 of those teams were in cup games and these teams were doing very well in the league above us . The run of good results saw us miss out on promotion at Christmas by the finest margin and if it wasn’t for a last minute goal over at len forge we would have gone up . In reflection it may of been a blessing in disguise as it allowed the boys confidence to grow and their game to develop. What followed after Christmas was our great league form continuing which saw us only lose 1 game , and without making excuses we played 2 games over a weekend with no subs and lost the 2nd game 2-3 . We also began our cup fixtures and again the boys stepped up to the mark . We knocked out 2 teams from the league above and one of the stronger teams in our league to make it to the final . Although winning the cup would have been the icing on the cake for our season putting it all into perspective it was a great achievement for everyone in the team even getting to the final . Unfortunately it didn’t go our way in the final but take nothing away from the boys , Lewis and I were very proud . So we go again next year and with a move up to the league above I’m sure it is going to be a challenging season . What I do know is that whoever we come up against the boys will give it their all. As always , a big thank you to Lewis for all his help at training and on match days , to Lorraine for looking after the finances , and to Donna for all her help behind the scenes . And finally to all the boys families for their help and support as always . Bring on September! Chris Rayleigh Boys Under 9 Panthers Manager: Dave Churches Coach: Dean Kelley

Another very successful season saw the Panthers win the group B cup, win promotion to the division 3 at Christmas and then to div 2 at the end of the season. Played 27 won 23 lost 3 drawn 1. Goals for 107. Against 41. Clean sheets 12. It’s been a pleasure to coach the boys and watch them improve and develop whilst playing an attacking and up tempo game. They’ve played some absolutely breathtaking football destroying the opposition.

Our fourth season and second year at 7 aside. The season has consisted of 22 games, 16 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses. During the season we have scored 49 goals and conceded 22. Top goal scorer for the year was Mathew with 19. We played some fantastic football in parts during the games this year. The boys are using the ball more effectively which was our aim this year. Our next aim is to improve on this and to learn how to dictate the play. Our communication on the pitch has improved but this is one area that we are looking for further improvement especially given the size of the pitches next year.

About the boys. Jamie, Goalkeeper. His improvement from last year has been huge again, made some glorious saves during the year but has also improved his all-round football abilities as well. Logan, defence. Great footwork shows great determination in the games. Callum, defence. Has continued to grow in this position, a great footballer with good passing and tackling abilities, our captain for the year. Alfie, defence. Great determination to win the ball, Alfie’s passing, and confidence has improved as the season has progressed. Tom, joined us this season from a lower league team, has improved during the year playing with and against good players. Has great determination. Freddie, midfield. Uses the width well, very direct, constantly giving the opposition something to worry about. Ryley, midfield. Always involved in the middle of the park, fantastic distribution of the ball and gets stuck in when needed. Jack, midfield. Uses the width well, fantastic crossing of the ball. Never stops either on or off the ball. Joe, striker/midfield. We missed him during an injury spell during the year, straight back with a crunching tackle. Always willing and has fantastic vision when on the ball Matthew, striker. Improved on last year, fantastic eye for a goal and movement to create the space for himself and others Our overall performances would meant we would have finished near the top of a very difficult league, we had a very successful cup run which ended up with a loss in the final which was hard to take but, as all good teams we will take the positives from it into the next year and make sure we are there again. Next year going into 9 aside, I feel our team will flourish, so looking forward to it. Lastly, I would like to thank Jimmy for his assistance and fantastic support during the year and the parents for their commitment and support Can’t wait for next season, Grant Rayleigh Boys Under 10 Tigers Manager: Simon Compton Assistant Manager: Dan Parsons

Continuing our second full season in League two , we were hoping to push on to the top half of the league, however this season has seen a total of four boys leaving the team and three new members being brought in, so it became more about rebuilding rather than challenging the top. It is a real credit to the team and the new boys, as thanks to their hard work, we have continued to play really good attacking football with the emphasis on individual control and accurate passing, which has meant even though we have lost quite a few games this year, we have always been competitive and chal- lenging in games until the final whistle and retained our league two status. This past season we have concentrated more on defensive plays and fast transitioning through the midfield, as well as a few set pieces, which have seen us become stronger at the back and a more potent force upfront, so overall we are playing smarter now and we have become harder to break down.

However the usual winter madness with three weeks of frozen pitches, followed by another three weeks of water logged pitches meant that we didn’t have a game for 6 weeks and as a result found it hard to pick up where we had left of. But other teams especially those with access to 4G pitches were more difficult to beat, as they were training and playing more regularly than us.

A strong final few games saw us improve our results meaning that we were safe in league two for another season. Well done to the boys for their hard work and commitment and thank you to all the parents for their help and support this season. Thank you to Mandy for being our debt collector and social butterfly! Thank you to Ian our referee, for running the games and helping to teach the boys whilst in the heat of battle (which isn’t easy at times!). Finally thank you to Contractor-Wizard for sponsoring us for the past two seasons and a big welcome to our new sponsor for 2019 / 20 season: ARC (UK) Systems Limited. We are now looking forward to the step up to 9 a side with the exciting new rule chang- es, which include : bigger pitch & goal size, increased play time to 30 min per half and the Introduction of cards and of course the dreaded offside rule. The team enjoyed a steady season in their new higher league. The football played has been entertaining and I’m confident of further progression next season for 9 aside football. In the 2018 season P 12 W 6, D 1 L 5 narrowly missing promotion. We scored 23 goals, con- ceding 22. In the 2019 season P 12 W 5, D 2 L 5. Scoring 23 goals, conceding 16. The team scored some amazing goals & equally the defence and goalkeeper finished strongly as we only conceded 2 goals in 5 league/friendly games. Gracie Green-another solid season defying her size and gets stuck into every challenge that comes her way. Very professional and one of best females I have seen for her age. Harry England -top goal scorer 4th year running-17 league goals with some fantastic efforts, despite missing the first month of the season due to an op. Great with a dead ball situation. Lewis Payne-shown great versatility in 2 positions and chipped in with 6 goals. Equally comfort- able in attack or in defence. Finished the season very strongly. Oliver King-another player who has performed well up front/defence. 6 goals, he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and also getting in timely tackles. Oscar O’Sullivan-added goals to his game scoring 5 goals from midfield. Works really hard and all the team and fans are really pleased how his season went. Jack Fordree-AKA Mr Dependable, strong, hard working & possesses the longest throw I have ever seen at this age group. Luca Osman-another fantastic season in goal who has saved his team on many occasions. His foot work will be a big asset for 9 aside. Daniel Crewe-Mr Duracell, . Superb season and has a big influence on games for the team, as the season has progressed his distribution of the ball has improved. Will enjoy the bigger pitches! Reilly Stone-a useful player to the squad as he can play in midfield or up ront.f Unfortunately he is hanging up his size 3’s for next season but the team wishes him well. Rio Connelly-continues to show great positional sense. A managers dream as he can literally play anywhere from goalie to striker and never lets you down. Thomas Oxlade-joined us at the start of the season having not played football before. He has certainly made up for lost time. A fantastic addition and I have high hopes for him at 9 aside. A special big thanks to my Assistant Stewart & Vicky for helping coach the players and making training enjoyable/doing accounts. Thanks to Stewart,Michelle, Kevin, Ian, Andy for match days. After gaining promotion, we started the 2018/19 season in the second division. We had a difficult start, losing six and drawing one. I think all the parents will agree that the games weren’t necessarily reflective of the outcomes. We were only losing by small margin’s and in some games fully deserved the win. In mid-November, we finally got the break we had been waiting for and the boys picked up their first win of the season. With confidence growing and the boys playing some great football we went on a run, picking up five wins and draw before the Christmas break. After Christmas we found things a little tougher. We didn’t really get going and struggled to re-find the form that led to the unbeaten run. Sitting here reflecting on the season I realise that although we have struggled and the boys heads have dropped at times, we really do have an amazing team. Despite the losses they all turn up every week and give 100%. I couldn’t ask for any more. I think for the boys and I, this season has been a big learning curve. In pervious years, we’ve not encountered losing steaks or confidence issues. In the most part we have won far more than we have lost. However, I truly believe this season will make the boys better players in the long run. With preparations for the new season underway and new players coming in, I can feel the excitement for the up coming season. With this amazing team, I am confident we’ll be back to winning ways, while playing great football but most importantly having fun along the way. Special mentions to Logan who has really progressed during his first season with us, to Yuan for his amazing team spirit and to Benny for keeping us all entertained…if it’s not Donald Trump impressions it’s dinosaurs taking over training. Unfortunately, Jack M and Harlee left, but we were very happy to welcome Leo, who plays in goal, to the team. The boys as ever, continued to work well as a team, and although results - especially early in the season did not always go our way, they are bonding more and more and loving the game. One of the things that I’m most proud about is seeing friendships form and deepen (both the adults and the boys!) through the mutual love of the game. Well done boys on another great season, you never fail to make me proud. Looking forward to going up to 9 a side next season, and bringing some more players into the fold. Thanks to our ‘football family’…to those who show up early and go home late. Thanks particularly to Rob Barnes, who has reffed for us this season; not always a nice job but a necessary one! Thanks to all the parents, families and friends who show up rain and shine to support us, it really does make the difference! Biggest thanks goes to the following people who make it all worthwhile, our fantastic Panther U10 team:

After welcoming Daniel and Freddie to the team, the boys grew into their second season of 7-a-side football and have delivered some amazing performances. Their effort was rewarded when they were moved up a division in the New Year, before going unbeaten in their new division in 2019. Unfortunately, a loss in the last game put an end to their fantastic run and while that may have dent- ed their record, it would take more than that to knock the morale of the boys and the brilliant support that the team gets every week from friends and family. I am proud to be part of this fantastic group of lads and the development that I have seen as a team, in their individual ability and in their personalities leave me looking forward to the challenges of next season. The boys are already preparing for bigger pitches and off-sides and have begun to develop their fitness and stamina and it is encouraging to see their positive attitudes when faced with these challenges. Thank you to Darren Wilce for another year of support with matches, training and refereeing and thank you as well to Danny Lovett for stepping up to help and providing much needed assistance as the squad has grown. Your support is always appreciated. A big thank you to all the parents, grandparents and family who turn up to support the boys come rain or shine. We appreciate the support and positivity that you bring and, in addition to that, I know the club appreciate the time and money that you give to every event that is put on to support the day to day running of such a big club. Without the boys, there wouldn’t be a team and their effort is appreciated. It’s not always easy, they don’t always listen, and at times they drive me mad, but I genuinely love spending time with them and helping them to improve. When they produce a moment of quality football, make me laugh, or I see them battle to take on and beat obstacles that frighten them at the Nuclear Race, I’m truly proud to be playing a part in their lives. I can say that safe in the knowledge that they will have got bored reading this already and won’t have got this far!!! Finally, thank you to the Carter Group / Carter Security Ltd who have been our kit sponsor for the last two seasons. Without their kind donation the boys wouldn’t have the kit and training gear that they have and your support has been much appreciated. The boys have played in the top division again this Josh Ramsey 24 0 0 season and competed with the very best in a very evenly balanced league where most teams are Harry Newell 24 2 2 capable of beating each other, in the league we’ve Ronnie Reeves 24 6 15 played 11, winning 7 and scoring 39 goals and conceding 27. The four games we lost we have also Taylor Rowley 23 4 4 beaten so shows how competitive the league has been. Harry Lusher 24 5 41

In the league cup we performed well, eventually Jack Camina 19 12 16 falling at the semi final in a close game with Hawkwell. Quinn Seymour 24 1 8

The Humber cup games then started with the Medal Jack Turner 24 4 3 which we won 5 out of 6 games and qualified for the knockouts, then going onto make it to the final which we lost 2-1 after extra time having played the better football throughout.

The boys are an absolute pleasure to coach, their commitment and reliability is all I could ask for and their progress this season has again been remarkable, playing some of the best football at this age group and gaining a reputation of a good footballing side. Technically they improve week on week and have the adaptability to play in numerous positions.

The season started very well, with the Reds beating some old adversaries who had previously gotten the better of us, however, under the vagaries of the new administration – we struggled when promoted. After realignment at Christmas, our form returned and we were unlucky not to progress further in the medal-cup competition, drawing too many games in the group stage. There have been some excellent, individual performances this year – Harley in goal has had another outstanding season. Cormac, Ryan and Jan have been a very solid defensive unit. P25 W15 D3 L5 F83 A38 Well what a great first season we have had in the 9 a side format. We had two fantastic sign- ings at the beginning of the season in James Pagan and Corey Diss: both excellent defenders who have both had a really impressive first season with us. I always felt the 9 a side format would suit our team and the lads certainly didn’t disappoint. We started the season with a bang, playing some great free flowing football and scoring lots of goals. The results and perfor- mances kept improving from there. Whilst there were no league tables, based on our results, we would have topped the league at Christmas so a massive well done to everyone. Two of the things that impressed me most this season was the fact we werent overly reliant on the strikers to score goals. The have got their fair share of goals and even defend- ers at times. In fact 10 of the team have got on the scoresheet. The other impressive thing was our ability to dig in and grind out a result when needed. Many a game was won by just one goal, and often we had to come back from behind to secure the win. Four of our standout games this season were mainly against Division 1 teams: 1) 3-3 draw with Ekco Whitecaps in the cup, having been 2-0 down after 5 minutes, we went on to win on penalties. 2) 4-3 win against Wickford Town in the Humber Medal Tournament, having been behind the whole game. 3) 4-2 win against Leigh Ramblers in the Humber Medal Tournament where we outplayed and outfought higher opposition. 4) 1-0 win against South Woodham Ferrers. We only had 9 players then Daniel picked up an injury in the first 5 minutes but stayed on the pitch for most of the game, and the boys clung on. Our League and Cup statistics were: As usual the boys have been amazing to coach. They all get on so well and are genuine friends. We still have 5 players of our original u7 team which I think is great and really demon- strates the bond and ethics in our team. Special thanks to my dad, John, who is by my side every training session and match. To Chris, who takes the boys training every Thursday. To the parents and grandparents who are there supporting us through rain and shine, and running the line when needed. Lastly thank you to the boys who make coaching them each week, so much fun. Its been a frustrating season for us ranging from lows, where we lost to the bottom team who had only won one game and that was against us, to highs where we beat the top team and stopped them winning the league. We’ve struggled to perform at home this season but have done well away from home, winning most of our games. We’ve had two boys, Ben and Jack, from the age group below join us full time this season and they have been fantastic. All the boys have been excellent, given it their all in every game and we couldn’t have asked for more. A cou- ple of the boys have suffered with long term injures which hasn’t helped and has also meant that the boys have all had to play in positions that they are not used to. Fraser has been our goalie this season and he has been amazing and full of confi- dence, which in turn, has helped our defence consisting of Jack, George, Ben and Harry and occasionally Ethan,Henry and Charlie. In midfield we have been spoilt for choice with Henry, Isaac, Ethan, Charlie, Nigel and Daniel who has also played in goal. All of them have played fantastically covering all the midfield positions. This just leaves Caleb and Arthur who have done a stirling job up front. In the second half of the season we had a new player join us, Billy, who has played upfront and has done a great job. We are now moving on to 11 a-side with almost the whole team wanting to carry on and with the addition of a couple of new boys who are joining us next season who have fitted right in. It’s looking very promising for the coming season. I would like to say a big thanks to our sponsors this season - WTC Logistics and M Bains Gardening Services. Thanks to Nick for all his help and to all the parents for their support especially the dads who have run the line at our matches. Lastly we are saying goodbye to Arthur who has been with the team since it started at U7. We all wish him well for the future. Rayleigh Boys Under 12's Yellow 2018 - 2019

We began the season the same as any other by loosing players and signing new players in. It was clear from the start it would be a tough season ahead when after requesting to stay in Division B we were actually moved into Division A.

This was going to be a big challenge for the boys and we spent the summer training hard.

Our first match was against Forest Glade and even though our boys played to the best of their ability it was clear just how tough this was going to be after loosing 10/0. Not a good start. We went on to play another 6 league games without any points started to take its toll on us all, my team talks and post match briefs were becoming harder and was beginning to prove difficult to keep the boys positive.

We then began our cup run and got a couple of draws and wins under our belt playing div B teams, the boys were playing some good fast paced, pass/move football and morale started to improve.

I was hoping this would boost the boys for our next league match and allow us to get the results we needed to start moving up the table. Unfortunately this was not the case, the matches became very few and far between with the bad weather, but we continued to train hard regardless. It was so hard to watch the boys play some good football but not at the same level as the other teams in our division and sadly being beaten week in week out, but the boys stayed up beat and positive and continued to turn up and give it their all.

We had 5 games left to play and was still sitting bottom of the table with 0 points. It was at this point that I had a chat with the team and asked them if they wanted to continue as morale had taken a nose dive and the boys were looking so defeated every week. This was never an issue for me, I would of carried on happily enough but I wanted to make sure the boys were happy to continue. The boys were determined to carry on which to me shows great character, we went into our next match against Bowers & Pitsea who beat us 7/0 the last time we played them. My pre match team talk consisted of every thing positive that I could find and encouraged the boys to just go out and do their best, They played brilliantly and bought us our first win of the season winning 3/0, as you can imagine the whole team and the parents were absolutely elated.

We finally finished the season with a 1-1 draw against Southend Manor and another win5- 3 against Pegasus Utd. The team had turned a corner and although it was a little too late, I always knew they had it in them. They say a good player has to learn to win and lose gracefully and I believe the boys have done both this season and I am sure it will benefit them in their future footballing endeavours.

I would like to thank all the parents and supporters of the team who have stuck with the team rain or shine. The dads that have run the line and also Darren & Joe for their help with training and match day briefs and support.

Its not just the boys that make a team it is all of the above mentioned. So once again, thank you to you all.

Despite having 15 players signed on at the start of the season, we really struggled this year to field a full team consistently.

It was a difficult season, but there were still some highlights, with some great battling-against-the- odds performances with less than 11 players on the pitch.

Although this last year has been particularly difficult for me, the decision to retire from the role of Manager/Coach was not an easy one. But it was necessary for the benefit of my mental health!

However, in general, I am proud of the work that I and others have put in to create & coach several teams over 8/9 seasons that always had a real togetherness, win or lose. I have many great memories of players blossoming, strong friendships being made, our players playing for each other, with a real team ethic, with goal scorers throughout the entire squad, determined performances, winning many matches with less players than the opposition, and some great winning runs too (including 26 wins on the trot during a 27 match unbeaten streak).

I wish all the players well who have decided to carry on with other teams, and give thanks to all who were able to support and help me in my endeavours to keep the team going. Thanks to the club, which is run by hard-working unpaid volunteers. Special thanks to all the support and sponsored kit received by Wayne and of course my wife Lorraine, who has been a big help with admin and listening to my endless analysis, planning, worrying and moaning. Hopefully, I will be a little bit less irritating now over future weekends!

I can put my hand on my heart and say we have under achieved, with the way we started the season we should of ended up with at least a runners up medal. But partly my tinkering (as I feel football should be for all to learn and develop ) and our concentration issues in the second half of games put pay to that. So we ended up mid table , two quarter finals and wondering what should of been. Two years ago we would of grabbed that and ran, but now I think we know with the right team balance and everyone performing we can do so so much better. We are losing a couple of players and I am sad to see them go and I wish them well on there next adventure. To next year I think we are at an age where winning and development should go hand in hand , so I will treat it like my Adult section and become more tactical with team selection and match day management, I have been honest with you all on that. But in turn I will expect the best out of the boys both at training and on match days. We still learn, we still develop but we play and select to win. So that sets out next years ethos. Special thank you’s go to Clare RM (RB Secretary) who works tirelessly for Rayleigh Boys fc and nothing would function without her, Chris Hockett and the volunteers at the Chichester who ensure we have a decent pitch to play on, My assistant Dave who basically took a lot of games and ses- sions this year for me. Clare Wishart for her excellent organisational skills and behind the scenes work. Andy for stepping in with Dave whilst I was having my operation I also thank the boys for their dedication (most of the time). This was our First season in the Chelmsford league and with the addition of three new boys the whole team played some excellent football. They worked hard for each other and even when they were up against it, they encouraged each other and ground out some fantastic results against strong opposition. The boys finished the season coming 4th which was a great achievement in a very competitive tough division. Myself and Rob were really proud of all the boys as they all worked hard in training to improve on the great ability they already have but also having 16 boys to rotate, the boys honesty and supportive of each other made it easier for us. I would like to thank Rob again for all his hard work on the training field and his time and knowledge he puts over to the boys. To Steve for doing all the teams admin and arranging the tour and social events. And a big thank you to all the parents who help out running the line and for all your continued support for your boys and me and Rob.

After a very good pre-season we started with an away game against Ecko, whom I’d been told would be challenging for the league title at the end of the season. We got off to an absolute flyer, 5-0 up at half time and winning 6-1. The first half of the season up until Christmas we played good football and looked a really useful team; winning six, drawing one and losing one in the league. The weather played havoc with our fixtures in the second half of the season. We were unable to find any consistency and were on the end of too many defeats by the odd goal. We went out of the League cup at an earlier stage than we should have, after a poor performance at Trinity. Losing in the County Cup away to Shield Academy, we gave an exceptional team performance and lost to the best headed goal I have ever seen. The boys have been receptive in training, as individuals, and have developed as a team showing both positivity and praise for their teammates. They once again have shown how they are maturing as footballers and young men. Moving up four division’s in as many years with many of the boys having been on the whole journey shows how far they have come individually and as a group, they have been an absolute credit to themselves and the club. Another good season for us, we finish 4th in Div A . It was a great finish as we were promot- ed from Div C last season. It was going to be a big change this season with new lads fitting in well plus playing in a higher division. What can I say, they played very well in some games and some not so good in others but overall they played excellent this season. I would like to give big thanks to the new players Max H, Max B, Jake, Fred, Will H & Ben. We spent the summer training hard to prepare the lads for the new season, we knew it would be a tuff ask for some of them, but they stood up to be counted when the chips where down in some games and they had to dig deep and fight for the win (if you know what I mean) and we scored a few goals along the way - well done guys. This season we have been very competitive, defensively solid with good midfield displays. Goal scoring is the pressure end of the pitch and we were not always clinical enough in-front of goal (if we were you’d be called Salah, Mane or Kane) but that’s not due to the lack of effort or commitment from any of the players. The lads have been a pleasure (most of the time) this season to coach. They should be very proud of themselves individually and collectively they have worked well as a team. As we say goodbye to Ben Bowman, Jamie Blaylock, Callum Purchase and Will Hart, myself and Paul would like to wish you good luck in the future and thanks for being part of the team. 100 Appearance Club Names: Will Curtis / Josh Fitzgerald / Max Butler/Ben Ferguson Once again we would like to thank you all for your support as parents because without you this would not be possible, ensuring the lads get to training and matches on time and supporting them on match days. Special Mentions I’d like to thank Paul for all his help running the team and with the sponsorship from RBS (Cheers Bro!) and also, Andy, thanks for all your help running the line and helping out with the fitness training, the boys have thoroughly loved it,I’ve heard a few of the lads request some more running!! Without you guys it would not be possible!

I’d like to start by thanking everybody on the committee for all their hard work again this season and putting together another top presentation especially the club secretary Clare and Margaret the club treasurer, who work so hard dealing with the administra- tion and finaces of the club. Also a big thanks to Chris Hockett, who looks after the ground maintenance at the Chichester, what these guys do for the club is amazing and their commitment each year is very much appreciated. Having been involved with Ray- leigh boys for 12 years now, I’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s been involved in that time, from Brian Mitchell MBE and Alan Webb, who helped set the team up, to Martin Shields and new chairman Derik Marr. It’s been a pleasure! Once again, I’d like to thank all the boys for their attitude and commitment, for training on a Saturday and for games on a Sunday. It’s been a pleasure to manage them again this season and to be completely honest, our final position in the league doesn’t really show a reflection on how well the boys have played. I would also like to thank Paul Wood, for assisting me with training and in match days, cheers Paul. Lastly, I’d like to thank Simon for looking after the teams finances, (which isn’t easy with the fines we’ve had) and for running the line, also to Kev Fuller and Chris Williams for also running the line and to Colin Levey for arranging our kit sponsor, ‘JMP on site...on time’ Next season, I will be taking the majority of the boys in to senior football and i am under no illusions that it will be easier. Following last season, our ambitions were to progress the division and to actually be Champions. Unfortunately, the loss of six players including our top goal scorer and our Captain, was a devastating blow. This, along with our keeper and three other outfield players leaving, meant with only 8 players, we had an arduous hunt for new talent.

Our search was successful as we acquired three new players in James Goddard, Sam Smart & Dan Sissons, and they were a clear improvement to our squad. With Reece Olley, in his first ever football season, and playing at right back along with Alfie Thompson at centre back, the gaps in our defensive line were sorted, but we still had the specialist role of Goalkeeper to fill and following a real stroke of luck we were very pleased to sign a young 14 year old, Harvie Hammond into the role.

Our season was a complete rollercoaster, full of ups and downs and we started the season with a 3-1 victory away to the eventual Division Winners, Hambro Colts Hammers, followed by back to back League Trophy and Cup losses, and then we continued our league success with a 3-1 victory against South Woodham Wildcats but, each hiccup seemed to lead to considerable problems with player indiscipline.

We had many weeks without matches which clearly affected our consistency. In December we signed a new attacker in Harry Curtis but we had five weeks off between his first and second match. 2019 started with a return fixture at home to Hambro Colts where we led 1-0 right up until the last 10 minutes only to concede two late goals and lose 2-1. The following week we beat Island Boys with a winner 2 minutes into injury time, but a further 6 weeks followed with no matches due to bad weather and of course, illegal metal goal net hooks.

The rollercoaster continued with the signing of Jayden Mulcare (who never actually made his debut) and as the problem of missing players continued to plague our team, through illness, injury or just a lack of commitment, by March we reached at the halfway stage of the season with a 7-3 win rate and still very much in contention for the top spot. With a backlog of matches, the double headers did not go our way and with even more players quitting the team, not just mid-season but mid matches, the season began to nose dive. The highlight was our 3-2 victory over Island Boys where we went down to 10 men and still grabbed a hard fought victory with only 10 mins to go.

The biggest irony in our rollercoaster season was the disappointment of the double header at Great Wakering on 12th May which was cancelled due to their Groundsman Rayleigh reseeding the Boys pitch and the Under league then awarding 16 usBlack the six points which lifted us to 5th position above Manager:our friendly rivals IslandDerrick Boys. After our debut in the Premier Division last season we had a few boys leave which gave us the opportunity to bring in some fresh faces. We were very lucky to have seven good quality players join. Josh King with his electric pace on the wing. Harry Ford a solid midfielder/striker who was one of the top scorers in the league. Brad Schofield a very accomplished full back and Jack Chaney a very skillful midfielder with a great first touch. Another great addition was Nick Clements a talented winger that has great pace. We were also very lucky to have two EJA players join the ranks, Matt Carpenter a great full back with excellent positional sense and Alex Coleman who is without doubt the best keeper in our division. They all complemented our already very talented established team to help build a very strong squad. Our existing players Brook Wilkins, Joe Lovett, Tommee Elliot, Matty wicks, Adam Wright, Dillon Henstock, Joe Whittaker, Brandon Bennett and Ben Souto are all exceptional players in their own right and have been a pleasure to have in the team. After being knocked out of two cups early by a very strong Canvey team we more than made up for it by reaching the quarter finals of the U18 County Cup which included two away games to London teams finally being knocked out by an U18 Hornchurch Alliance team 5-2. We left with our heads held high for a small team from the Southend and District league. Two years ago the boys decided that they wanted a crack at playing in the Premier Division. We were told that I was delusional and the boys were not prem players. With their hard work, dedication, ability and most important of all great team spirit myself and Mike are extremely proud to say that Rayleigh Boys U17 Greens are Premiership League champions. We would like to thank all the boys for their hard work in producing a team, that I have been told by other club managers, play some of the best football in the league and the way football should be played, with passing that starts from back to front. We would like to thank all of our linesmen especially Jeff, parents and supporters for making this year so very special.

This season has been a hard season for all the boys moving from division C to division A and pitted against league winners and runners up from divisions above us last year was always going to be hard on the lads. We only saw one new player come in Josh who before could settle in was thrust in Goal due to Joseph dislocating his finger in two places in training, (this caused more shock to his teammates than him) Josh came in and did not let the team down. We started reasonable but as the season went on as other teams bought in players and we had numerous injuries our league position steadily eroded. Certainly it must be said we are not the luckiest team in the league with hitting posts and crossbars a normal weekly event, and even as a team that if I am honest is more like Mother Theresa than Attila the Hun on the field when we were in a good position a certain referee twice seemed to pull the carpet from under us with a wave of bookings and a sending off. The season has been hard, as mine and Matt’s hair got greyer by game, Gavin’s hair actually walked off and joined the circus in the second Southendian game but all said and done the lads stuck togeth- er, supported each other and did their best and that is all we can ask. As parents you should all be proud, firstly they are still playing football at 17, keeping fit, and spending time with Mates. I speak for Gavin and Matt when I say they are a great buch of lads who are a pleas- ure to work with all with different characters like our very own team of Mr Men Harry Boreham – Mr Forgetful, George _ Mr Angry, Jamie –Mr Quiet, ,Joseph – Mr Strong, Josh – Mr Grumble , Reece – Mr Tall, Alfie – Mr Chatterbox , Mitch – Mr Worry, Lewis – Mr Rush , Ryan – Mr Busy, Finn – Mr Brave , to name a few We are all pleased to say nearly everybody is continuing next year, we would like to think because of our amazing selection skills, outstanding training and our tactical prowess but I am sure it’s because they are a good bunch of friends. We have beaten teams above us this year and fought out hard earned points playing as a team yet always with a smile on our face. I have never had a season with so many candidates for the player awards and this showed in the parent’s votes all being so close. On behalf of Matt, Gavin and Myself thanks for being a great bunch of parents supporting the team and not blaming us for your Sunday afternoons being ruined if we lost.! I would like to thank FIRESCAPE for their sponsorship of the team shirts it is really appreciated. I would like to thank our numerous athletic Adonis linesmen who have supported the boys and given much needed eye candy to our female supporters throughout the season .(That should get them doing it again next year !!) Thank you also Karen for all the unseen work behind the scenes to make me look like I semi know what I am doing. Lastly but not least the team does not happen without the hard work of the coaching team Gavin Emery Cornelius (More like Dick Emery), Matt Klopp Lock (Not Jürgen his brother Clipperty Klopp), not very ably assisted by Mort Mourinho (Obviously not in his glory years, his man Utd years) Thank you guys for all your efforts with the boys as a parent I appreciate it. As we go to Press Matt may be hanging up his outdated and un- fashionable Arsenal Tracksuit, Matt has given so much to this team and on behalf of everybody I would like to say a massive thank you for your hard work dedication and patience over many years. These guys will look back one day and remember what you did for them, may even buy you a pint. Well done lads pleasure working with you all and keep enjoying your football. Division A League Champions! Despite being forced to play in the Premier League this season, we still had the opportunity to be crowned Div A winners. As the season progressed this became a straight fight between ourselves and Hullbridge. Due largely to our fantastic team spirit and determination, we not only survived this long campaign but played some excellent football and fully deserved our title of Division “A” Champions. We began in September with a loss to Leighwood before beating Trinity Red comfortably. Against Wickford a week later, we worked tirelessly to keep one of the best teams in Essex in check. Despite losing, this prepared us for the important match against Hullbridge. This proved to be a very tight and nervy affair between two evenly match teams, however, we battled hard throughout, and newcomer Lewis snatched a late winner that proved decisive as we claimed three very important points. Unfortunately, we then played and lost six successive games but at no point did we perform badly. We remained competitive in those games but lacked the firepower against the more expe- rienced Premier League teams. Particularly in matches against Trinity and South Woodham, we showed real signs of progress and the defence led by Luke, Edward, James D and Oliver were consistently excellent. Of course, losing Sam Combes to injury during this time was tough. Our efforts finally paid dividends in March when we held firm against South Woodham and earned a credible 0-0 draw. In the next game against Hawkwell, everyone played brilliantly with last-ditch tackles being made across the pitch as we tried to find a winner. It was provided by James Perkins with a great goal, just reward for his tireless energy and determination. Our best performance of this (and some thought of any season!) then came against our old foe Trinity. After a good start we took the lead with a close-range goal by Toby; before Captain Fred- die scored a wonder goal to give us a 2-0 lead. Trinity tried to fight back but further goals from Toby, Lewis and James P. meant we won 5-0 in what was a fantastic all-round display. Adam kept out a late chance to keep a clean sheet. This was our final year together and Geoff and I could not be prouder of the boys’ efforts this season. Special thanks of course to Head Coach Geoff, for his guidance and to Carl for the training sessions throughout the winter! Following our trophy success in recent years, it was a great achievement for this team to win another League title. Many thanks to all the parents for your support over the past 12 years. Regards David Rayleigh 1st’s Manager: Chris Amoroso

With an ageing squad there has been numerous occasions were availability has become an issue whether through work, family or injury. This has led to a lower points tally than the last few seasons. The ever-presents have been the reason this team has kept going across the season and the dedication was really appreciated. As our final season together as a squad I would like to say Thank you to all the players and all the loyal fans over the last seven years. Also a massive thank you to all those involved with Rayleigh especially Clare and Chris.

What a great first season! Rayleigh girls U9s began training together in the summer of 2017, initially alongside the girls from the older age group. We had a few friendly fixtures and entered a few tournaments before starting in the league in the autumn of 2018. In our first year of 7 aside we have focused on passing the ball and working as a team. The league has been a great experience for the girls who have always shown great determination and fighting spirit against some strong opposition. We also had a great trophy run, culminating in victory on finals day in the Presidents Cup , to cap off a great 1st season! The bond between the girls is lovely and as the season has progressed you can see how much their confidence has grown and they are all enjoying the game. It’s really nice to see the friendships that have developed and as a result of this, the girls really do gel as a team and show their love for football. Well done girls on a fantastic first season, they have been a pleasure to coach and we are so proud of them all! Moving on to new season we are looking forward to welcoming a few new players in order to bol- ster the squad. We are looking forward to seeing how the girls progress and develop new skills. Finally a big thank you to our ‘football family’ all those parents, families and friends who show up rain and shine to support us, it really does make the difference. What a great football family we have!!! A massive thanks goes to the following girls who make it all worthwhile, our fantastic Ospreys U9 team: Player Comments Abigail Dalton A powerful shot, scoring goals and safe hands in goal Grace Rogers Strong at the back and never gives up Izzy Gardner Tricky winger who loves the ball at her feet Jess Williams Solid reliable defender who loves a tackle Lily Hartman Speedy at the back, mopping up the danger Lily Major Team player, always gives 100 percent with a smile Millie Hall Great with the ball and scores goals Poppy Hughes Full of energy and gives everything for the team Rayleigh Girls Under 10 Hawks Manager: Steve Jolly

Rayleigh U10 Hawks have had a fantastic first season. The girls spent last year training and playing friendlies as a joint team with the current U9 Ospreys, before we split for this season. The girls qualified for the Trophy Round after the first league, narrowly finishing as runners up to Tigers (with Rayleigh hitting the post three times in a tight 1-0 defeat). The girls then qualified for the League Cup following an unbeaten run of 9 games in the South West division. Once again, the girls finished runners up (to a very well drilled Tottenham Hotspur side).

A decision was made before the start of the season to play all 11 girls for an equal amount of time in all games and this continued throughout the season. This meant that all of the girls made great improvements during the year and always played with a smile on their faces. There was a great deal of rotation and movement of position during the season as well, with only Amy in goal and Kiera in defence always playing in the same position. It is testament to the commitment of all players (and their parents) that of the 11 girls, 3 played in all 21 games, with a further 5 missing only one or two. There have been a number of memorable games played throughout the year, from the 9-0 victory against Writtle on the opening day of the season, the 3-2 revenge victory against Tigers who had beaten us in the Trophy round, to the highly anticipated game against Tottenham Hotspur in the league that ended in a 2-2 draw (and could easily have been a Hawks win!) It has been an absolute pleasure to coach the girls this year and I am so proud of them to finish runner-up in both competitions that we entered this year. Hopefully we can go one better next year. League P14 W8 D2 L4 Cup/ Plate P4 W2 D1 L2

After a great season last year the Ravens decided to push themselves and all play up a year. So rather than playing u11’s 7-a-side we went straight to u12 9-a-side. What a start we had winning our first 5 games and at one point sitting 2nd in the league. All the girls stepped up and the effort and determination of being the underdog spured them on throughout the season. We made it to the semi final of the Spring Plate only to lose out to the winners ‘Rayleigh Kestrels’ and Betty finished the season as the leagues highest goal scorer Everyone played their part: Caitlin: Great between the sticks and pulled of some fantastic saves. Lola: One of the smaller players but will run all day to make sure she gets a tackle in. Hannah: Probably the smallest but that doesnt bother her as she will tackle anyone. Libby: Progressed beond our wildest dreams and has shown herself to be a great defender. Gacie: Capable of getting up and down the pitch with a good range of passing Rebbeca: Hard working with great skills, has an exceptional understanding of the game. Jasmine: New to the team but plays like she has been playing for years and a great asset. Ruby: Give 110% every game with so much energy and aggresion we could ask for no more. Connie: Another small one but with a great touch and chipping in with some goals. Amelia: A great passer of the ball as well as being pretty good in goal as well. Sophie: Our pace down the wing who is great at getting the crosses in as well as some goals Betty: Our strong pacey forward with an outstanding goal scoring record. Lastly I would like to thank steve for becoming joint Manager with me, Gary for sticking with being our lino even after the abuse he gets and of course all the parents that make the Ravens a great friendly team. Rayleigh Girls Under 12 Merlins Manager: Tom Maciver

Amelia Swift: Amelia is promising young goalkeeper who always comes to training with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and improve herself and regularly puts in great performances in training and games. Rebecca MacIver: Rebecca is a player who understands the most fundamental attitude in football and employs it into everything she does: hard work. She gives 100% into everything she does and never backs away from a challenge. Alex Hampson: Alex has improved leaps and bounds since the start of the season. She is always there to make people laugh and smile with a positive attitude that she always brings. Catlin Donnelly: It is clear by watching Catlin through the season that she is a player who is a brilliant listener. Every aspect of her game that she has had to improve has been progressed to an excellent standard. Cerys Barret: Cerys’ has continued to enhance her technical and physical prowess throughout the season and is always committed to any scenario she faces, never complaining on shying away from a challenge. Ella G: Ella is a player who consistently puts in excellent performances every week. Her drive to become a better player is always present in training and games and is someone I know will work their socks off in every game. Karis McCarthy: Karis is a player who is very confident in herself and this hasallowed her to grow and progress into an outstanding player, as well as always being a strong presence on the pitch. Phoebe Martin: Phoebe always comes to every training session or game with the intent of working at 100%. This attitude has led to her developing it a very skilful player who will no doubt continue to improve. Ella Cummings: Ella is a player who is consistent a ball of energy who always keeps everyone happy at every chance she gets. This attitude has made her a crucial part of the overall cohesion of the Merlin’s. Francesca Cummings: Francesca is someone who has a brilliant attitude and is always positive in her approach to training and games. This attitude has allowed her technical and physical strengths to reach a brilliant level. Laoise Bullock: Laoise has gained so much confidence since joining the team and this helped make her into a brilliant player. She puts in so much effort every time she plays and is an invaluable member of the team. Cordelia Turner: Cordelia’s commitment is something every player should thrive for. She never com- plains and always puts in huge amounts of effort into everything, weather it is in training or in games. Lexie Blythe: The amount of passion Lexie shows in every game and training session is monumental. It is clear that she cares so much about the team as she always has something to say to try and help everyone improve. THE KESTRELS………. SEASON 2018-2019

Rayleigh Girls Under 12 Kestrels Manager: Paul Hodghton Assistant Manager: Rob Molyneux

The ‘Kestrels’ have completed their 3rd season this year and are now a squad of 12 very capable and confident young footballers. We made the transition this season to 9 a-side and with the off-side rule. We didn’t have the best of starts to the season with mixed results in the early weeks but with hard work during training and renewed vigour I am glad to say that after Christmas there was a definite turn around and we finished the league in second place. We were also semi finalists in the league cup and as I write we have the final of the Spring Plate coming up. We have a wonderful team spirit within the Kestrels which runs through the squad and supporters alike! (and we do have the most loyal and supportive fan base so thank you for that !).

We’ve come a long, long way together. Through the hard times and the good. We have to celebrate the HARRIERS. We have to praise you like we should!!!! What can I say about this team of what were girls when this venture started out some 6 years ago and have turned into the most fantastic bunch of young ladies which always have been and continue to be a pleasure to train with. The team spirit always has been and always will be one of the strengths and bonds that holds this team together. Despite the number of personnel losses to the squad, the longest serving team of Rayleigh Girls still holds strong. This is testament to the team, their parents and the support we have and continue to receive from the younger teams and the club as a whole. We have ended the season mid table this year, double digit points, and the highest number of goals we have ever scored despite the fact that a substitute, until later in the season was a thing of myth. Our fair share of injuries yet again has hampered play but the spirit if the team and willingness to play regardless of the outcome has always shone through. The support that these ladies show to each other is incredible. From goalkeeper(s) through to defence, into midfield and lastly up front, EVERY single ‘lady’ has played their part again this year against some teams that reminded Darren and I of how we were when we first started out, the majority that we are definitely on a level with and some, whom shall remain nameless, that we wish we had never had the ‘privilege’ to meet let alone play against. Regardless of the opposition, we have always come out fighting, strong and committed. Always delivered the goods and to be mid table, we have seen our fair share of victories this season. There will be a few changes into next season as there always are but both Darren and I are confident that the team will continue and deliver what they have done, year in, year out and end each game, regardless of the result mocking their team mates and coaches alike. Well played HARRIERS for 2018 – 2019 and long may this continue. Rayleigh FC Roll of Honour 2018/2019

Thank you to those who attended the work party over the 2018 christmas period. Our club relies on volunters and without your help there are many jobs that couldn’t be tackled. Details of work partys are given on the managers WhatsApp group, it would be great to see many more of you in the future. Clares’ Café Clare’s café is open every Sunday during the football season selling tea, coffee, hot chocolate and other hot and cold drinks. We offer bacon rolls, burgers, toasties, sweets and crisps.
