I bring over 30 years’ experience working in the NGO sector, bringing an empowering, teamwork approach to people, systems and resource development and management. As a consultant since 2012 I have undertaken assignments with a wide range of NGOs, with a focus on supporting funding, learning, accountability and programme management. A strong believer in collaboration within the international NGO sector, I am active in the UK NGO network Bond, a member of Bond’s Funding Group Steering Committee, a Trustee of the South West regional network of NGOs (SWIDN), and am a regular trainer on Bond’s Fundraising from Institutions open programme course.

CURRENT POSITIONS

Director and Consultant, Flamingo for NGOs: May 2012 - current Consultancy offering funding, learning and management services for international development NGOs. Over the last six years I have worked with over 50 diverse international NGOs, CSOs and networks providing support on applying to, managing and monitoring funds from institutional donors; coaching and training on institutional funding matters; carrying out donor research; and helping organisations to develop their sustainability strategies. See Annex below for list of assignments.

RECENT LONGER TERM ASSIGNMENTS

Lead consultant working on the design and delivery of “Resilience and Sustainability for CSOs”, Eurasian Harm Reduction Association: an online training programme for civil society organisations working with key populations in the CEECA region. I led a team of four consultants to run three live sessions, record a series of specialist webinars, and one to one coaching, in English and Russian. (Sept-Dec 2020)

Funding and Facilitation Specialist, Fit for the Future Fellowship Phase Two, ActionAid UK. September 2019 - December 2020. Following the delivery of the highly successful Phase 1 Fellowship below, I led the facilitation of Phase Two of the Action Aid UK Fellowship for 12 fellows from ActionAid Federation members and Women’s Rights Organisation’s partners in , Rwanda and . Included taking the fellowship online, and establishing an online resource platform.

Project Manager, Fit for the Future Fellowship, ActionAid UK. January - June 2019. Managing and delivering a six month Fellowship programme for 12 fellows from ActionAid Federation members and Women’s Rights Organisation’s partners. The Fellowship included topics such as programme design and management, funding, donor relations, from a feminist and human rights perspective, through a series of three week long workshops, a series of webinars, and facilitation of communities of practice. I also co-wrote a manual for running future Fellowships.

Programme Development Manager (Maternity Leave Cover), Motivation Charitable Trust. March – November 2018 Leading team of UK Programme Coordinators, supporting programme systems development, contract compliance, donor accountability and implementation of Motivation’s work in Africa and Asia.

Promising Approaches to financing development in the 21st Century Forus, Lead Researcher of this report for Forus, profiled at the 2019 High Level Political Forum. We also produced an accompanying Toolkit for Forus members, which has now been published.
