(Aug. 2, 2017) –– Tony Award-winning Broadway, film and television director Kenny Leon will teach two master classes to students in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Kennesaw State University, and will share his extensive professional experience with up-and-coming actors, designers, directors, writers and technicians. “Kenny approached us about how he could work with our students in meaningful and impactful ways,” said Patty Poulter, dean of the College of the Arts. “He is incredibly enthusiastic and eager to work with our students, and it is very exciting to have him at Kennesaw State University.” A sought-after motivational speaker, Leon has conducted acting and theater workshops at universities and corporations in this country and abroad. “I want to bridge that gap between the academic world and the professional world. There should be a healthy synergy between the academic world and the professional/artistic world. So, I am all for that,” said Leon. “When I have a master class with students who are serious about being in this business, it’s better to give than receive. I am rewarded by giving,” Leon said. “I have a chance to do that with some students who call Atlanta home and students who are making a commitment to the profession. Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith announces the D.C.-based pioneering theater company’s 60th season filled with award-winning artists and projects to celebrate the grand opening of Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater. The 2010/11 inaugural season includes eight full productions, seven presentations from the National Endowment for the Arts New Play Development Program and public readings from all 30 of Edward Albee’s works, totaling at least 45 projects produced and presented by Arena Stage in the inaugural year at the Mead Center. He played the title role in Jillian Armenante’s production of Camille and Little Mary in a “gender blind” production of The Women (Annex Theatre, Seattle). Film credits include Crocodile Tears, Money Buys Happiness, and Great Uncle Jimmy as well as Gus Van Sant’s Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. Burton is also a director and choreographer and has received awards for his work on the stage from the Seattle Post Intelligencer and Seattle Weekly. He was listed by Backstage West among “100 Actors We Love.” He received his BFA in theater from Baylor University and now resides in Seattle. (PCGNY Photo) NEW YORK, 24 July 2018 – The first batch of Diskubre Tour delegates wrapped up their immersion trip in the Philippines covering Manila, Baguio, Sagada, Banaue, and Ifugao last 7 to 17 July. The Diskubre Tour was organized by the Philippine Consulate General in New York (PCGNY) in cooperation with the Philippine Department of Tourism New York (PDOTNY) to promote a deeper appreciation of the Filipino heritage to second- generation Filipino-Americans and put them in the forefront of the community by instilling a spirit of giving back to the Philippines and the FIlipinos. The travelers are expected to be champions of Philippine tourism in their own networks. For the pilot tour, PCGNY teamed up with ABS-CBN as the Diskubre media partner, to document and cover the adventure of the young travelers. The trip will be featured in the digital series Discovering Routes Travels with Diskubre, premiering in September. During the 11-day tour, the young travelers went on historical and educational tours, food trips, farming and livelihood immersion, cultural exchanges, and nature excursions. 20-year old Calvin Santiago from New Hampshire recalls, “I really enjoyed exploring the Philippines. Every day we were traveling to a different city and learning about the lives and history of the locals.
