It isn’t just the fresh veggies that keep so much longer because they’re local; it’s the sense of adventure! I never know who I will run into - old friends or new people to get to know. One good conversation can make your day. At the first few Spryfield Community Farmers Markets I had several inter- esting new encounters, particularly with new vendors. The Market aspires to be more than just a shopping excursion; it strives to be a full experience. There’s a new musical performer (or group) every hour to liven up the atmosphere, with a diversity of musical styles, and each has their own special story for why they like to play at the Market. There are cafe tables, both inside and outside, to help you enjoy a light lunch from one of the many food vendors, such as the Nomad Gourmet The cardboard boat race gets off to a great start at the 2018 Spryfield Days event. Reg Horner Memorial Sports Page Halifax Hurricanes celebrates 20th anniversary This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Halifax Hurricanes Lacrosse Club. Back in 1999 the first team began as the Herring Cove Hitmen, then became the Halifax Southwest Lacrosse Club and is known today as the Halifax Hurricanes Lacrosse Club. The Club was founded by Mike LaLeune. Originally from Burnaby, B.C. but long time resident in Herring Cove, he introduced his sons Joe and Andre to the sport of Lacrosse one summer while visiting family on the west coast. After seeing the Burnaby Lakers Junior Lacrosse game both LaLeune boys were hooked and really wanted to play. When they returned home the LaLeunes became obsessed with the idea of having a local team. They wanted to give others the opportunity to play,(after all Lacrosse is Canada’s official summer sport), and to become as passionate about the sport as they were. There were a few youth playing lacrosse in Sackville and Dartmouth at the time but LaLeune knew that this was an opportunity to form more teams and create an actual league. “Exit Realty Metro welcomes long time Spryfield resident Karyn Hammond to its team of Real Estate Experts” “Being remembered for what you did and how you made people feel is the key to personal success. Building relationships IS success.” With 23 years of combined experience working with military and RCMP and a five time home owner/builder, Karyn’s goal is to continue working with friends and col- leagues and helping them understand the often difficult process in buying or selling a home, including prepara- tion in getting ready for the process. Karyn has been an avid volunteer in the Community of Spryfield and sur- rounding areas and wishes to extend her services and continue to provide professional and knowledgeable information to clients so that they understand every bit of the process and are completely happy with the outcome. I look forward to helping with your Real Estate needs, no matter how big or small.
