Through it they explore the consequences for the young when older generations fail to make adult decisions. 4 LIVERPOOL MOZART ORCHESTRA: Eyes down for all the threes! Dissatisfied with his original overture for the opera Fidelio, Beethoven ended up composing four versions. Leonore No.3 “ALL THE THREES” is one of them, and considered by many as the best and most dramatic. Of Saturday 9th February 2019, 7.30pm Saint-Saëns' three concertos for violin, the last one is the most popular, and for good reason. Dedicated to the composer-virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate, (pre-concert talk at 6.45pm) it combines technical fireworks with drama, melodic invention, and a Venue: The Great Hall beautifully serene second movement. The supporting artist for this concert is Kollega, a wonky electro-jazz quartet from Lancaster playing all originals. Fusing loops, irreverent samples, live processed bass and tiny analogue synths with acoustic drums and tenor sax they paint a uniquely organic futuristic soundscape over some big funky grooves creating works that are extraordinarily musical, animated and captivating. MILAPFEST PRESENTS 7 AFTERNOON RAGAS 2019 FESTIVAL JAZZ LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL Saturday 23rd February 2019, 1pm In this unique performance, three extraordinary £6.50 musicians come together to celebrate the beauty of Indian Classical music and its long association with Jazz. Manish Pingle - Mohan veena Gurdain Rayatt - tabla Manish Pingle is one of the world’s leading Mohan veena Jack Jennings - electric guitar (Indian slide guitar) players. This world-class musician is a disciple of Ustad Shahid Parvez, the renowned sitar maestro. Joining him on stage is Gurdain Rayatt, a disciple of Pandit Shankar Ghosh and one of the UK’s leading tabla players, having accompanied many of India’s most prestigious artists.
