Study Design: Descriptive. Place and Duration of study: The study was conducted in Gynae unit I in collaboration with family planning centre in Nishtar Hospital Multan, from Jan 2004 to Jan 2007. Patients and Methods: A total of 45 women of reproductive age group were selected and after taking complete history, examination and investigations, all women suitable for Implanon were included and those who had hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity and pelvic pathology were excluded from the study. Results: The main complaint in study was menstrual disturbance. Out of 45 women, 20 developed amenorrhoea, 14 complained of irregular vaginal bleeding. And only 6 women presented with frequent periods. However normal menstrual cycle was observed in 6 women. No change was observed in weight in 15 women, while 12 women complained of mild weight reduction. Weight gain upto 2 kg was observed in 18 women. Only 10 women complained of breast tenderness and skin problem was observed in 5 women. Out of 45 women, 39 were satisfied but 6 asked for removal due to menstrual disturbance. Conclusion: Implanon like other systemic progestegens is not free of complications. Amenorrhea and infrequent irregular periods are the main complaints, while weight gain and acne are minor problems.

    Plan/ schedule for Desilting Of Tertiary Drains- Lahore Executive Summary The Desilting plan has been prepared by Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) to remove the silt/ sludge from the tertiary open drains to facilitate drainage of severage and rain water in the city. The major objective of the plan is to facilitate drainage of water by removing solid waste and silt from open tertiary drains. The plan intends optimum utilization of available resources to achieve the desired results. LWMC will implement the schedule for desilting of tertiary drains in close liason with WASA and to ensure the proper execution of operaton as per schedule and SOPs explained in the plan. All operational activities will be monitored through android based system. A pro-forma is also designed to keep record of the daily desilting activity which will be shared with stakeholders as per instruction. Pain is much horrid element of septal surgery during removal of packs from nose. Aim: To compare septal surgery outcomes with & with no post-operative packs in the nose and thus to evaluate requirement of packs in the nose after the septal surgery. Methods: It was descriptive research conducted in Department of ENT, Avicenna Medical College Hospital, Lahore in which 50 (fifty) respondent aged 18-50 years old with symptomatic deflected nose septum were included. Results: Among these patients, 25 underwent septal surgery with packing while 25 patients experienced septal surgery with no packing with figure of 8 stitching employed on septum. Among whom septal surgery was performed with no packing had minor bleeding and pain. Septal hematoma was developed postoperatively merely in 1 patient. After three months, all patients were found satisfied. Study concluded that simple deflected nose septum can safely be treated along with septal surgery with no anterior packing of nose and through taking the figure of 8 stitching on nose septum. Also, stitches are helpful to close any unintended trauma to septal mucosa as well as offering further assistance to cartilage parts retain in the septal surgery.
